Fitbit Update 09/3/2020: Thank you all for your participation in this thread. Since the majority of Inspire Series users have reported successfully updating their firmware, I am closing this thread. If you still have not updated your firmware check out this post for some best practices on how to update your device.
If you are experiencing an issue with your Fitbit unrelated to the firmware-up process, I invite you to start a new topic on the community or find a related topic. Thanks again for all the great feedback.

Update 8/20/20: The Inspire firmware release of 1.88.11 should now be available to all customers today. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist. Please keep this thread on-topic by only providing feedback after updating your Firmware to 1.88.11.
We've begun releasing new firmware (1.88.11) for Inspire/Inspire HR to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

Sadly, I have not seen an "official" Fitbit response to this thread. I agree with pretty much everything MXHeather said. I would like to go back to the previous firmware version. It synced much quicker than 1.88.11 as well.

I am really disappointed. My device is basically dead at this point. I can't get it to do anything. The best offer I had was a discount on a new device. If this is the kind of support I get and the product only lasts a couple years (at the most), why would I invest in another one?

so.. just got a brand new Inspire HR today and... then i come to ;earn about all this. Mine won't even set up. its completely useless. But even if it does end up being able to install the new firmware... do you think i should just return and get a refund? Seems like everyone experiencing lots of different problems so if its really messed up then its not the product i wanted to buy and i could return now while its still brand new. A real shame though. Do i return while i can or hold out hope?

If I were you I'd contact tech support (via chat or phone not here) to get some help with setting it up. If you can get it set up and working/ syncing properly, keep it. I'm happy with mine, and people come here when they have problems so it might not be representative.

Have Fitbit pulled this firmware yet or even acknowledged that it's faulty? If it's bricking devices I'd like to see some official guidance ASAP.

I agree, plus it has added a notification screen between the clock and exercise. Hoping I can get rid of the added screens as they're useless. Please let me know if you find a solution!

I recently installed the new software. I wanted to go back to old one as of yesterday. The second screen is useless showing time again, date and battery. I did originally loose the last three screens,. Water, days till cycle and sleep time. Now they are back. I had restarted my watch and nothing happened. Then all of a sudden they were back today. Weird. But happy things are back to almost normal.

In the past, I've been able to choose the screen items and order on my Inspire HR using the phone app.

Updated to said Version last night. Irritated by one change in the interface of the HR device:
Before Update:
Home Screen was Clock, scroll down once to get Step Count
After Update
Home Screen Clock, scroll down to a battery life, clock and date display, scroll down again to get to Step count and beyond.
Is this intentional? Or is there a problem with my update? Anyone else not all that happy with this annoying change?

battery life, clock and date display...
Yep, I got that very annoying "new feature" as well. I wish I could turn it off or even set it as my default clock screen, but having two screens next to each other with basically the same information is pointless. I don't know how anybody thought this would be an improvement.

Before the firmware update, my fitbit screen would turn on when I rotated my wrist to look at the screen. Now the screen doesn't light up automatically unless I press the side button. I've already synced to the app and restarted the Fitbit and the same thing is happening. Was this an intended result for the firmware update?

I'm having similar issues! I've only had mine for 1.5 years and recently it stopped counting steps or HR. It just sits at 0 for steps all day and is blank for HR. I've tried to reset multiple times, trying disconnecting and
resyncing....nothing seems to make a difference. It WILL sync....but there doesn't seem to be anything to sync because it isn't picking up any data.
Is this to do with the update?? It looks like I have version 1.63.5, so I don't think I've update?? Super confused.

I can't even get the firmware to update! I've tried using the pc, resetting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, nothing! I can't even sync!

I was able to update the firmware on my Inspire HR on Thursday night, since I received the message that an update was available. I didn't see any new clock faces, though.

@KateFitbit It's clear from the number of voices here that this firmware is riddled with issues. Could we get an ETA on when these will be fixed and an updated firmware released?

Had a message on the app this morning to say update available - set it updating and now nothing. The device won't start, it can't be seen on bluetooth, not visible to the app...
This is a replacement device for one that was originally purchased 13 months ago and broke. Now this update has rendered this one useless. So disappointed, can't even get an online chat or call to get support😡
