Fitbit Update 09/3/2020: Thank you all for your participation in this thread. Since the majority of Inspire Series users have reported successfully updating their firmware, I am closing this thread. If you still have not updated your firmware check out this post for some best practices on how to update your device.
If you are experiencing an issue with your Fitbit unrelated to the firmware-up process, I invite you to start a new topic on the community or find a related topic. Thanks again for all the great feedback.

Update 8/20/20: The Inspire firmware release of 1.88.11 should now be available to all customers today. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist. Please keep this thread on-topic by only providing feedback after updating your Firmware to 1.88.11.
We've begun releasing new firmware (1.88.11) for Inspire/Inspire HR to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

i suppose it's intentional - it's what others are reporting. i see that as well (the new screen before steps), and would prefer an option to remove it. fyi.

OK so after trying all day to install the firmware update and trying every fix recommended it still fails to load. How on earth do I get this to happen please?

Wheres my sleep tracker gone? I don't want to have to open it on my phone, having the info on my wrist was really handy - it's gone since the update! Put it back please!

After the update, I cannot wake my Fitbit Inspire by either tapping or double-tapping the screen, unless the screen has turned off within the past 30 seconds or less. I've changed the Double-Tap setting several times, and did a device reset twice, but the problem still occurs. I've also tried tapping every part of the screen (bottom, top, middle).
The screen does turn on if I raise my wrist quickly or press the physical button (both as expected). It is just the touchscreen that seems to be disabled a short time after use.

have tried 3 times to update with a 4th under the guidance of CHAT, which downloaded 100% and went somewhere-into the ether? Maybe this one needs to go away until the kinks are worked out.

Same problem. Did update now no sleep data on Fitbit or app.

Fitbit app no longer finds my device. When it does find it and provides the 4digit code, it does take. Kept saying that the code was not working before I could finish typing it in.

I got my update last night before I went to bed and then during the night (3 hours later) it recorded a severely high heart rate of 162 which has to be a glitch. I'm attributing it to the update because everything prior to the update has been normal.

I sure hope not! I've only owned my inspire hr for less than a month!

I also had no new sleep data until I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (iOS) - everything else worked even sync'd everything but sleep data.

So now I have an extra clock screen I can't get rid of and I still cant customise the stats that show on my tracker? It was already inconvenient trying to swipe and look for the stats I care about among the ones I don't, now I have to have two clocks in a row for no reason. Awesome.

received my new tracker in the mail today, you know, after the firmware update broke my old one. Thankfully I still had the warranty. First, I was a little dismayed by the packaging, it didn't even come in a box just a plastic bag inside of a large brown envelope. Much more importantly I go to set up the new fitbit and find out that not only is the app forcing me to update the firmware before I can set it up (you know, the same firmware that broke my other one) but the update won't even finish it just keeps failing! The new tracker is at 100% battery, I have done a hard reset on it twice and restarted my phone once. Beyond pissed off, will definitely be considering other fitness trackers in the future

Thanks Andrea.
I feel like an idiot, I didn't even realise there was an option on my device to turn HR on/off! Whilst in settings I also saw that the option for phone GPS had been switched off flowing the update so I've turned that back on which should fix my exercise tracking.
I feel like these settings should be more clearly signposted from the relevant sections of the phone app!

I don’t like the additional screen when swiping between clock and steps. It adds an extra step, with no new information that’s useful for me. How can I get rid of it?

Have you tried restarting your Fitbit? While it's charging, hold the button until you see a smiley face. You have to be charging for it to restart.
