Inspire & Inspire HR Battery Issue

Fitbit update: 4/9/19 Our engineers have added the Stats Heavy and Valerie clockfaces back into the gallery. Feel free to re-install them if you had recently removed them due to battery concerns.

Our team was recently made aware of an issue which may be affecting some users battery life while using certain clockfaces on Inspire and Inspire HR. We are currently looking into this and hope to have a fix identified soon.

In the meantime, I recommend switching to one of these three clockfaces: Simple Stats, Shifted, or Analog. After some testing, our team has determined that switching to the above clockfaces should help alleviate potential battery drain.

If you are experiencing short battery life after switching to one of the clockfaces above, I also recommend performing a quick restart and following the troubleshoots listed in this article.

As always, I will be sure to keep you all in the loop as more information becomes available. Feel free to let me know if you have any additional insights or questions. Thanks again!

I have changed my clock face back to simple stats. I have not rebooted it yet. I will do that in the morning.

Have this issue been resolved with the new firmware 1.60.39?

@RicardoFitbit hi Ricardo...I've tried it for a few days now with the suggested clock face and I'm still having the same problem. My step tracker also stalls sometimes and at other times counts when I'm driving. Please suggest what I should do....I'm in south Africa and purchased from authorized stockist. My first fitbit and I was really looking forward to enjoying it. Is it js a problem with the inspire...should I rather exchange it for a different model.

RicardoFitbit, yes I have already checked the "Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device?" article. Tried to reboot my Fitbit, but it will not reboot or charge. I get the where I get the smiley face on the screen then it just goes black again, I've tried cleaning the contacts several times and I get no indication that the charger is connecting. It has been on the charger for 4 days now with no change.

Hi tMechanic,

You really must contact Customer Service. It sounds like you have a totally non-functional and thus useless FitBit. Customer Service was helpful when I contacted them my phone and I'd suggest you do so as well. They will try to help you fix it and if they can't, they can send you a new device. Best of luck!

Hey guys! Welcome back @Mahea04 @Axu @sailorbear510 @AbhilashaR @tmechanic @ProfJudi I'm glad to see you posting in our community again, let me take a look to your replies and posts.

@Mahea04 Thank you for troubleshooting this matter with me, please keep me posted and let me know how it goes. I'll be here if you have any additional questions.

@Axu @sailorbear510 Note that with our updates we fix bugs and may affect our devices behavior and our services as well. Fitbit always recommend to keep our products and services up to date to have a better Fitbit experience. I appreciate your comments.

@AbhilashaR I appreciate your time and effort troubleshooting this situation. Your device has been tested against driving and riding in buses, trains, and other public transportation and shouldn’t add steps when you’re traveling under normal conditions. However, on bumpy roads or in a car with a stiff transmission your device may add some steps. For most users, the number of extra steps added when driving isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats but if you want to remove the steps from your daily total, manually log the driving activity for the time you were in a vehicle. For more information please check: How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?

@tmechanic Thanks for troubleshooting this difficulties. I'd like to share with you that our Support team was notified on your behalf to receive further assistance with them. Please check your email inbox for their contact as they'll be getting in touch with you soon. @ProfJudi I appreciate your suggestion and bringing your experience to our attention, I contacted our Support team on @tmechanic behalf just as your suggestion.

Don't hesitate to ask me anything related to Fitbit, I'll be here.

I updated the Fitbit today with hopes I would see a change. There was good
and bad. The charge seems to be a lot better. I've had the Inspire HR on
all day and the percentage of battery is the same. I'll see how much it
goes down after a day.

The bad... the update didn't help with the step count. Today it was nearly
2000 more steps that my Alta HR. I'm going to wear them both again for a
few more days to track the differences but doesn't seem like the update
addressed the step count issues.

I wore both my Alta HR and my Inspire HR during my workout. While I was on
the treadmill and lifting weights, the step count was pretty close. I
didn't see the big discrepancy until I did my everyday activities. It was
about a 2000 step difference yesterday with no football exercise. So far
today, there's a 1000 step differences. I know before I went to the gym,
there was already a 200 step gap and all I did was the general hygiene
stuff. The Inspire HR seems to be very sensitive. In regards to battery
life, it's depleting about a percent an hour which means I'll get just over
4 days on a charge. I'm still using simple stats and no notifications or
screen wake. I'm sure if I turn the functions that I want to use on, I'll
be back to the 2 day battery life. I was getting 2 days with the simple
stats so the update did help a little. I still think Fitbit should send out
a longer charging cord! That little one still irritates my soul!

Hello @toniecet thanks for your reply, I'm glad to continue assisting you. My apologies for my delay in responding.

I'm glad to know that the update improved your Inspire HR behavior, thanks for your update. If you're using both devices at the same time, I'd like to share with you that for wrist-based devices, it's important to specify whether you wear the device on your dominant or non-dominant wrist during setup because of the following:

  • The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating.
  • The non-dominant wrist setting increases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any under counting of steps.

Therefore, this might affect the accuracy of your Inspire HR if you're using your Alta HR in the dominant wrist and the other one in the non-dominant. Please take the above in consideration and let me know how it goes.

In regards the battery life of your device, our Inspire HR is designed to last up to 5 days but some features like All day sync and animated clock faces may impact this estimated time-frame. Let me know if you have these activated and if so, how your device behaves after changing them.

I'll be around.

I rebooted my inspire HR on Sunday night and fully charged. I woke up today to a died Fitbit. no warning or anything. placed it on the charger and it has 16%.. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the fact that I've paid good money and got a replacement just to have the same issues.

That's not encouraging. I sent mine with a battery issue. It will be
unfortunate if the issue still exists. I have realized that this issue is
from trying to pack too many features into the devices. I don't
understand why we need notifications, multiple clock faces. This is an
activity tracker- I am not interested in anything else with it. My One
was great- and still is actually. After 4 years, I am getting 8 days with a
charge- it is not fancy but does get the job done reliably.

Hello @Mahea04,  thank you for providing all this information. I'm very sorry to see that you've continued to experience the same problem with the battery of the Inspire HR draining too fast.  I've gone ahead and sent your information to the Customer Support team again for further assistance with this, so you should be getting a reply soon with further instructions.

@SunsetRunner,  thank you for all the details that you've provided as well, and for the feedback about the quality of the product and the different features you mentioned.  I've sent your information to the Customer Support team for further assistance, but was informed that you already have a case created with them or that you already got in touch with them. I hope everything goes well.

keep me posted, let me know if you have further questions.

Does the battery issue also affect whether the fitbit even works? Battery went down, I charged it and I can feel it vibrate but there is nothing on the face - nothing lights up at all.

-------

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I had to return it. Now it is happening again. What is with this fitbit?

Hello @Doubleck, welcome to the Community forums.

Thank you for the details provided about what you're experiencing with your Fitbit device. What you mentioned seems to be more related to the display; or could you please confirm if you're also having any specific problem related to the battery (not being able to charge the device, or the battery draining too fast)?

In the meantime, please let me know if you already tried the restart procedure described here, and confirm in you're able to see anything on the screen.

Keep me posted.

My fitbit does nothing now. The battery showed up with an exclamation point. I put it on the charger and nothing happened as far as I know as there is nothing on the screen. I can feel a vibration - one short buzz and then nothing and then another short buzz. This happened about two weeks after getting the fitbit for my birthday from my children. They tried to get it to work and talked to tech support and nothing worked so they returned it to Amazon and got a new one. I had this one for about two weeks and it did the same thing.

I have now given it to my children to see if they can get a different model instead of going thru this every two weeks. Too bad this is failing so bad as it is a really nice piece of technology I was hoping to assist me with my health.

Thanks for your time.

I was having trouble with my Inspire that I’ve only had since March 26. I’ve already sent email about the battery problem being drained after 2 days of wearing. I changed the clock face and disconnected. And now I can’t get connected back to the Fitbit app. It will send me 4 number code to connect and it would connect but my phone won’t connect with it. It just keeps trying to connect but won’t finish the process to start.. what should I do now???

My Fitbit inspire is 1 month old and battery life diminished to 21/2 days last 2 weeks. I had it on charge all night and display still shows an empty battery. Very disappointed in this product. And I see that it cannot be returned to store. What do you suggest?

How can you return the Inspire? Says not to take back to store where purchased. Will Fitbit take them back? This model is definitely flawed.
