Fitbit Update 7/16/19: This update should now be available to all customers! If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.

Hi all! We've begun releasing Inspire & Inspire HR Firmware update (1.63.5) to customers!

This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. You can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

We have 5 new clock faces you can try. Find them in the Fitbit Clock gallery. To change your clock face, see How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?

This release includes bug fixes and improvements.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your tracker can be found here. Please be sure to have your Inspire or Inspire HR attached to your charger while updating.

If you run into any trouble updating your tracker, please try these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I tried updating today - my Inspire had stopped recording steps on the phone app today, even though the Inspire itself was still tracking steps on the watch.  In addition, when I tried to click on the Fitbit icon on my phone, where it has always worked, it produced a blank screen and then reverted to the display where there are icons for all of my apps, instead of going to the Fitbit dashboard.  I updated according to the instructions today.  The phone will still not sync.   A line progresses halfway across the Fitbit dashboard screen up top, and then just stops.  This makes most of the features of the Fitbit, which you would ordinarily track on the phone, unavailable.  Do you know what is going on, and why the Fitbit dashboard will not update.  I suppposedly downloaded the latest update according to your instructions.  No luck.

Hi, what’s going on? Everything shows up on my phone, but only the time (moves) and heart rate stands (stills)  on my inspire hr. I double tapped and nothing happens, I did do the upgrade app, I think it’s to do with that, as I never had problems before.

@SunsetRunner It seems that there are some issues with the latest 3.x versions of the Fitbit app.
Have you tried downloading and installing version 2.95 (after you uninstall the current one) to see of this helps you until they release a newer version that works without issues ?

I talked to a technician from Fitbit's phone number for help.  He had me restart my phone, and I think I also restarted my Fitbit, and eventually Inspire HR worked again.
Thanks for writing.  Hope you successfully get your Fitbit to work.  Their help phone number actually helped.

I have restarted my iPad multiple times and restarted my Inspire.
Nothing. I deleted it from the app and now can’t re-add it because the app doesn’t recognize the device.

It sounds very frustrating.  The technician on the phone at Fitbit was able to guide me through a set of steps to make my Fitbit Inspire HR work again.  I'd encourage you to make it Fitbit's problem by calling them and asking to be guided through its return to functioning while they wait on the phone line, and if it doesn't work, ask them to replace the device.  But I think with the proper steps, they seem to know how to get it to work.
Best, good luck!  I couldn't do it myself till I worked with them step by step, so maybe my description of how to get it to work doesn't cover all the steps.

Hi, it seems to be back now 🙂 I didn’t do anything to fix it, it came back while I was at work 👍🏻👍🏻

I recently used the heavy stats clock face. That was a step in the right direction. Many of the other clock faces have no use.
I'd like to see the heavy stats clock face configurable.
What i'd like to see in the heavy stats clock face is
1) current time in bold - like it is currently.
2) optional day / month

3) optional steps

4) optional heart rate

5) optional hourly steps to go counter.

After the latest update I no longer can log some of the activities I have logged before, for instance zumba. It won’t show up as latest logged activities and I can’t find it when I’m searching. Why?

I've been waiting months for an update that will increase the font size on my Inspire HR so I can actually read the HR and steps numbers. This is an accessibility issue. Am deeply disappointed with this failure in the design, as well as the needlessly convoluted process for suggesting this improvement (there seem to be lots of posts with thousands of votes in the Community, but these are worthless unless users also know to vote in the Feature Suggestion area, which is not intuitive to find). I'd like to but I can't recommend this product to friends.

My Inspire will no longer sync with my Pixel 3. I've called support twice so far and have spent about an hour on the phone with them troubleshooting and still can't sync reliably. We have tried turning bluetooth on and then back on again after a ten second wait, uninstalling and reinstalling the fitbit app, installing the app on a different device and syncing, and some other things I can't recall.  I think it will only sync when I reboot my phone, which is not a reasonable workaround. It was syncing fine until a week or two ago (related to the latest update?).  Between this and the unreadable screen, this fitbit has been a terrible user experience, and I've been using fitbit devices since the One.

This post is to lend some assistance to anyone with an updating issue.

Tl;dr

Try removing any Fitbit device linked to your account before attempting to update the software.

Try using a pure Android phone. Maybe borrow a friend's for the 30 min update.

Detailed versionMy wife's new Inspire HR couldn't update. It was bricked. The battery icon would be displayed and the Fitbit logo with the Fitbit setup website. It wasn't powering off, even after holding the side button down for a few seconds.

It would connect to the phone, get the Bluetooth pairing code, begin downloading and stop at 1%; the pink data loading symbol would disappear. About 5 mins later we got the message that the the update failed.

My wife had a discarded Fitbit charge HR linked to her account. I had my Fitbit Charge 2 linked to my account.

We tried updating the Inspire HR using both accounts.

At the time, thinking the phones were the problem I used another phone, Motorola X4, with my account. I installed the Fitbit app, removed my Fitbit Charge 2, then paired the Inspire HR. Thereafter the Inspire HR updated.

Today I received my Inspire HR which has version 34.3001.40.50. I'm unable to finish 'setup' because firmware update stops at 6%. I've gone through every 'help' and 'troubleshooting' step several times and have spent about 6 hours on this so far and am extremely frustrated and disappointed. I tried online chat help but 'captcha' wasn't working and now it's not an option. What is fitbit's solution to the firmware upgrade issue I see so many people are having. Thanks.
