Inspire and step accuracy with clip

Purchased the Inspire and the clip.  Wore to grocery store this morning and when I returned the fitbit showed 3,591 steps and my Samsung watch shows 1,985 steps.  I believe the steps on my watch are accurate, so the fitbit is wildly overstated.  The clip is attached to my bra.  I did check my stride setting and it is accurate.  Is there something I can do to get a more accurate step count?

Hello @SunsetRunner and welcome to the help forums.  Do Samsung watches reliably count steps when you push a shopping cart?  Many wrist worn trackers, including Fitbits, depend on the arm swing while walking to count steps.  If a Samsung watch behaves like this, it will undercount steps when you are pushing a shopping cart.  Can you do a comparison where you are walking normally (not pushing a cart)?  Is there still such a big difference?  Also, verify that you have your Inspire on the On Clip setting and not the On Wrist setting.

Well, interesting.  I didn't think about the shopping cart.  Not a great test, but I just walked 100 counted steps and then checked both devices.  Fitbit registered 101, and my Samsung watch registered 82.  Huh.  I also moved the clip to my hip; don't know if that makes much of a difference.  Thanks for the input!  I'll keep comparing.

@SunsetRunner   It doesn't matter if you have the clip on your bra or on your hip.  Fitbit says both sites are fine.  IMHO, you are less likely to send your Inspire through the wash if you wear it on your bra.  Fitbit made three models of clip on trackers before releasing a wrist tracker.  Many of them met an untimely demise in the laundry, left in a pocket. 😉
