Inspire: app shows sudden increase in steps

My Inspire has changed my recorded steps from yesterday overnight from about 2000 to 69000 and says I've done 85000 overnight with an extra 8000 while I've been sitting in the chair having breakfast . What can I do to stop this and get it back on track?

@Spinz Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well!

Let me help you with your high step count. This is odd. Have you logged any activities on your account? Do you have any third party app linked to your Fitbit account? Could you share a screenshot of the activity area on your account? Manually logged activities may increase the step count. Also did you leave your tracker near a vibrating surface, things like a working ac unit, fridge or a computer may cause vibrations. If your tracker is nearby it can detect the vibrations and interpret them as steps.

Let me know how it goes.

It turned out to be my old Fitbit Zip which I'd left on a shelf when I got the Inspire a few weeks ago. The battery was running low and the Zip had a mad half hour where it was clocking up steps faster than I could count! It's never done that when the battery has run out before, I can only think it's something to do with having both the Zip and the Inspire linked to the app! Solved the problem by removing the battery but in the meantime my stats are way out of average pattern, and I was awarded badges no one has probably heard of, Rocket Boots for 90,000 steps in a day! Just wish I'd really burnt over 7,600 calories in a day, my weight loss target would be in sight!

Mine has done that a couple of times.  The 1st time I thought it was because I changed time zones but today it did it again. Probably added 6,000 steps. Not sure what caused it.

My fitbit started doing this yesterday - moved from 12,000 to 39,000 in a matter of minutes.  Was fine thus morning and then suddenly moved from 4,ooo to 12,000 in a flash.

Mine is doing that too. If I had walked what it says I did, I would bloody stumps for legs! If I manually sync it, it reverts to a normal count.

I think I figured it out. I cycled to work but logged it as a run on strava
by mistake which added on thousands of steps. Seems to be working now.
Hope you get sorted.
