I have an Alta and the new Inspire hr. I have worn them interchangeably on either hands, or even on the same hand for various periods of time and activities. No matter the configuration, the Inspire hr over counts steps compared to the Alta.

Hi @KarinaU nice to see you again on the Forums.
Thanks for letting me know that you've tried to use your Inspire HR in both hands and that you're still getting more steps with this mode than with your old Fitbit.
I'd like to check some background about how Fitbit tracks steps before to continue to troubleshoot your Inspire HR. Fitbit devices have a finely tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking. The algorithm determines whether a motion's size is large enough by setting a threshold.
If the motion and its subsequent acceleration measurement meet the threshold, the motion will be counted as a step. If the threshold is not met, the motion won’t be counted as a step. Depending where you're wearing your Fitbit it will be more sensitive to movement. Fitbit trackers calibrates themselves during the first days of use, and there is no way to change how they measure steps.
For information about specific conditions see How accurate are Fitbit devices? Although, we can verify how this is working by doing a quick test:
1. Put your Inspire HR on your wrist
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.
If your Fitting counted less than 100 steps or more than 100, please let us know and we'll see if we can investigate further. Sometimes, when you start walking you may notice that your steps may not update on your tracker right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real-time with each step you take.
Please, confirm that your profile is not using the sensitive sleep mode on this options too.
I'll be around if you have questions about it.

Thank you for your reply.
I am not using sensitive sleep.
This doesn't explain why the Inspire hr would count more steps than Alta. Same hand, same acceleration and movement, but still different step counts.

Today I wore both trackers all day on the same hand, same settings.
The Inspire HR counter 800 more steps than the Alta.

I had the same thing happen. It was off by 1500 steps by the end of the day when I wore both. I'm so over this Inspire. I'm going back to my Alta

Hi, is the problem still happening? I'm currently considering whether to buy a new Inspire HR or get an Alta HR from those third party stores which still carry the model...
