Inspire no longer tracks GPS map of run or walk

Hi,

I purchased a Fitbit inspire a few weeks ago and successfully used it to track my running routes several times. However this now seems to have stopped working - my walk/run is tracked but no map is available (only distance, steps, calories, time etc.). I've read some other threads on this issue so have tried: turning WiFi off my phone so that it has GPS connection via the mobile network constantly, checking the Fitbit app settings for use of location and battery in background, restarting my phone (Motorala G8 Power), checking I have the most up to date version of the Fitbit app. None of these have fixed the issue so I'm at the point of wanting to just return the Fitbit and use Strava on my phone instead. Any advice?!

@Cornid Welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Let me help you with this and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. I suggest you clear the link between your phone and your tracker by doing the following (which includes some steps that you have already tried):

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the advice. I've just followed all these steps and will test it out again on my run tomorrow.

However I saw the guidance below, which I think means my Bluetooth headphones might be causing the issue? If so, I'll never be able to use the Fitbit GPS tracking while running as I'm always using Bluetooth headphones. This seems like quite a limiting feature that would affect a lot of people?!

"Your phone isn't managing other Bluetooth connections. If you have multiple Bluetooth products like speakers or headsets paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use."
