Brand new Inspire won’t swipe.  I’ve reset five times but still not swiping up or down. Will only show the time! Any ideas please?

Nice to see that you're digging into the Fitbit Forums @Perrypuss@MrsKinger77 and @ronika7, let me give you a warm Welcome to our Community. Many thanks @NellyG, for bringing this to our attention.

@Perrypuss, since those resets didn't solve the issue, I create a case with our Customer Support team in your behalf. You should soon receive an email from they at the email you used to register with the Community forums.

@MrsKinger77 and @ronika7 if you haven't already done so, try to restart your Inspire following the instructions bellow :

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns.Cat Happy

My Fitbit is operating well again.

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I've tried the restart several times with the same result.

I get the smiley face and the vibration. then nothing.

The screen is blank. Can't swipe for the clock. Can't tap to start.

If I hold the button on the left I get the logo but nothing else. Is it really a "RESTART" if I haven't been able to turn it on??

With a brand new fitbit is there a step I'm missing? I feel like there should be a tab to remove from "display mode" to activate when you purchase new electronics...

So my phone (android) can find the fitbit to connect via Bluetooth, but then tells me that it is "Unable to communicate with Inspire"

This reset doesn't work for me. I've tried lots of times and just get the smiley face.  But it won't swipe and now the clock is out of sync and showing the wrong time.  So basically it's no use to me at all.  I only got this as a present last Christmas.  Any ideas?

This reset didn't work for me neither. I've tried too many times and just get the smiley face. It won't swipe and at one point, the clock was out of sync and showing the wrong time. Now the time is in sync but still won't swipe.Just like @GeraldineEM  I got this as a present last Christmas.

Thanks for all the advice. In fact the Fitbit is working now. It seems to
have a will of its own and sometimes refuses to operate.

my Fitbit inspire stopped swiping.  It only shows the date. It doesn't show the amount left in the charge.  I can't get it to swipe at all.  I've used it today to record my steps.  I followed the instructions about restarting it to no avail.  Please note that I'm not computer literate so I'll need lay terms if you send me any instructions.

I contacted the Fitbit Support chat line in the end and they were very good, asked had I done the recommended checks and so on.  When I told them that I had done everything possible they checked my warranty and sent me a new one without any further questions.  The new one is working perfectly.  Follow the link to their help site and hopefully you'll get sorted soon.

Hello, I’ve had the same problem as the original poster. I’ve done the reset. But I get the smiley face, no vibration & just the clock coming back on.
The screen is still working because if I double tap it I get the screen appearing. There is no swiiping though.
