Inspire stopped recognizing my walks

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just to start with, I've had my Inspire for 2 years and never had any issues. I've done all the checks and re-starts so I am as sure as I can be this isn't user error.

About 10 days ago my Inspire stopped auto-recognising my walks as expertise. It still counts steps and minutes so it is tracking the activity, but not recognising it as an exercise which contributes to my exercise goals.

@nicki-82 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message.

There can be various reasons why your activities were not recorded or recognized correctly.

For example, the activity is not fully recognized by your movement patterns.

You paused for more than 30 seconds during the first few minutes, so the tracker might "think" the exercise was over.

I recommend restarting your tracker and setting the start times for the activities differently. For example, set it to 10 minutes for a walk, 15 for a run, 20 for an outdoor bike ride, etc., and/or ignoring the activities you don't use.

You can find the instructions for this here.

Thank you for the reply but as i said at the beginning of my original post I have already done all these things, resetting my tracker, logging out and back in to the app, changing the settings to auto-recognise at 5 and 10 minutes etc and am still having the issue.

It’s also been this way for about 10 days, consistently not recognising any walks. I walk 5 days a week for 45 minutes minimum which has always previously been auto-tracked with no issue. So I don’t see how it can not be recognising this all of a sudden. The fact that it stopped working seemingly overnight doesn’t indicate user error either.

Any other advice beside the basics? Could it be due to an app update?

@nicki-82 , Thank you for getting back to me.

Just to confirm, are the walks recognized as another activity or none at all?

Mine does the same thing, and restarting it has done nothing.  Customer support has not helped.

@oldruth , Nice to see you around.

Did you tried the steps recommended on my previous post?

Are the walks recognized as another activity or none at all?

The walks are not recognised as any activity. Tonight I walked a brisk 7k without stopping and it has counted the steps and minutes but not counted the activity as exercise.

Yes, I've rebooted it and it didn't correct the problem.  I used the charging thingy.  My walks are just steps, even if I'm walking at an aerobic pace.  It doesn't recognize walks as exercise.  It did for the first 6 days, and then it stopped.

Thanks for getting back to us and for describing what happens with your walks @oldruth

I understand how frustrating this could be and would confirm to also set up your Inspire as a replacement device with the instructions from my previous post.

This isn’t a replacement device—it’s the first one I have ever owned.

Thanks for getting back to us and for the clarification @oldruth.

Please just follow the set up instructions with your current device.

I have.  I read the whole manual.  It isn't behaving the way the manual said it would.

I’ve done all the restarts and resetting and everything suggested here and still having the same issue. Are there any other things we can do?

i am having the same issue! stopped recording exercise on 5/17.  Records the steps correctly. It is frustrating that customer support is not offring solutions and repeating the same advice!!!!!!!!

Yes, I've given up on it.  It also says that I'm in "deep sleep" when I'm reading in bed, so my sleep totals are off every day from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on how bad my insomnia is.  I've got to send it back but I'm busy right now getting ready to go away for the summer.

I'm having the same issue, mine stopped recording my walks the same day, the problem isn't with us, it must be a fitbit problem.
