Inspire stopped tracking sleep and exercise

In May I noticed my Inspire completely stopped tracking my sleep - it worked fine before. I liked the function but wasn’t a big deal. I do a lot of walking and it still logged all of my steps and distance of walking, which is what I used it for, mainly. I have just been for a run and was looking for a way to track my running properly and realised the FitBit app should be doing this automatically - and that it actually was up until the same day in May that it stopped tracking my sleep. I assume the sensor for these is linked and imagine that something has gone wrong? I would really like to use the activity function as I will be cycling daily soon. I’m aware I can set it myself but it’s a shame that it’s not recorded any of my cycling or runs for the past 3 months. As I said, it still recognises my steps and distance, and it still connects to my app fine. Is there something I can do to make this work again?

@Laura2323 Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

I appreciate the settings checked prior to posting. Let's try restarting your Inspire and for sleep tracking, all wrist-based Fitbit devices automatically detect your sleep when you wear your device to bed. We recommend wearing your device in a snug wristband while sleeping; don’t wear your device in a clip or pendant accessory.

In regards to the exercise recognition, try lowering the time recognition to 10 minutes and continue monitoring its functionality.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue and no matter what I do I cannot get the inspire to track those 2 features. I have only had this inspire for 1 year and it already has been replaced once. This problem is happening on the replacement.

very new to the Fitbit world.  was in need of a fitbit to track steps especially, after spine surgery. I love it.  it shows a sleep app on it, but it is not lit.  have tried many steps I've read to wake and use.  including the restart.  any help appreciated.  oh, it does show up on my dashboard w/ no data... and I did sleep w/ it snug on wrist. thanks

@mazey7252 Welcome to the Fitbit Community and the Fitbit world. Thanks for the details mentioned.

Glad to hear that you're tracking your goals with Fitbit. I appreciate the troubleshooting performed prior to posting. I'd like you to make sure that you're wearing your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone), check out this article about How do I wear my Fitbit device?

Take into consideration that if your device is the Inspire, it will only track your sleep pattern. Learn more about it on this article: How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.

Hiya, thanks for responding. I have restarted the watch several times. I’m confident I wear the watch correctly and I already put the activity at 10 minutes. Someone else has suggested that Inspire doesn’t track activity automatically and that I have to set it - but it seems to have the feature.

Yes I got my watch around December time so have only had it 8 months and all this stopped after 5 months. Why did you get a replacement, out of interest?

Thanks for your response here. Can I just check - do you mean that Inspire does not automatically track activity and that it only tracks sleep? The functions in the app suggest that it does as it has the option to track automatically after it sense 10 minutes of activity. And it was actually doing it - I’d never set it to track until I worked it out that you could the other day, but it was tracking activity up until May.

Hi. The reason I got a replacement was it wouldn’t charge and it was only about 5 months old and still under warrenty. I originally bought the inspire about 1 year ago and this is the second time I am having an issue. I do not like the charger since it is too short and am very disappointed in the inspire. Would not recommend.

I contacted support and my issue has been resolved. Somehow my Fitbit was set as being on a clip instead of my wrist. I changed the setting and now my exercise is tracking.

My inspire also stopped tracking my sleep patterns mid May. I wonder if there was an update at that time.. I have tried restarting, resyncing, ect. And it is still not tracking my sleep. My steps have seemed to be fine.

As mentioned by @K6A1J1 previously, try checking if your Inspire is set to On Clip. Feel free to check the Product Manual here
