Inspire did track sleep on nite 1 but since not. The icon is dark on the fit bit. How do I turn it on?

I was sent a new replacement Inspire.  It tracked 4 days then quit, same old **ahem**.  This is my absolute last Fitbit. I will be going on every social media platform to spew chapter and verse venom about how horrible Fitbit product is and even worse the crap you go through trying to communicate with the company. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I posted what i did to get my inspire working and it's still working just like my alta did.  Here are a few other things to check in case you did what i did and your inspire is still not working like the alta:

- i had both the alta and the inspire registered in my fitbit app.  Seemed like the fitbit app didn't know what to do with the new inspire data and would also keep trying to get current data from my alta.  i finally deleted the alta from my fitbit app, cleared cache on my phone for the fitbit app, forced stop then restarted the fitbit app, then rebooted the inspire 3x in succession before attempting a sync with the app.

- delete your former fitbit from your fitbit app, if you have one.  The inspire should be the only fitbit in your app.  Then do the clear cache sequence for a fresh start with the inspire.

- if you switch wearing the inspire between your wrist and a clip, remember to switch it ON THE INSPIRE in that sub-menu.  Then ON YOUR PHONE (mine is android) i would go to settings/general/apps/app info/fitbit/storage then "clear cache", back up to ../fitbit and "force stop".  Then get out and start your fitbit app again then do a sync.

I noticed that the inspire logs sleep but it doesn't show up on the inspire display until i sync it with the fitbit app.  Once i sync it, *boom* it's right there in the app and on the inspire display.  Not complaining though because my alta did not display logged sleep anyway.  I had to sync it to see the sleep data in the fitbit app.

i never did call Fitbit when my inspire wasn't auto-functioning because of numerous fitbit commmunity posts saying they got nowhere by calling customer support. Not sure if i would want to jump through hoops to get a "free" replacement either so i patiently read a crapload of fitbit community posts regarding these issues, put the solutions together and did what i did.  the inspire is still working like my alta did and i'm happy with it.

We're having the same issues as everyone else - the Inspire tracked sleep for the first 4 days but then stopped and hasn't tracked anything for the last few days. Also the sleep icon on the Inspire is not lit.

This seemed to happen when the battery ran out, since recharging it hasn't tracked.

Have followed datsme's suggestions but sleep icon still not lit, so probably hasn't helped.

Website not letting me start a new topic so I'll tag onto this one even though it says "Solved".  Maybe after posting once or twice I can start a thread.

Both of us have Inspire HR's.  My wife is having a rough time with sleep tracking.  She lays down around 2200 hrs. and rolls outta bed around 0630 to 0700 hrs.  Roughly three times a month the device will record her sleep accurately.  The rest of the time it says she started sleeping around 0200 or 0300.  If she tells it that she went to bed at 2200 it goes back to 0000 or thereabouts but no further.  It does seem to be capable of rebuilding the graph back to whatever point in time it settles on.  If it went back to midnite every time it'd be one thing but sometimes it'll go back to 0030, or 0120, etc.

Wake-up seems pretty accurate.

She does tend to toss and turn.  We know she's got restless leg syndrome (RLS).

We tried swapping watches.  The problem did not follow the device.  Her HR on my wrist gave a report in the morning that was indistinguishable from my previous results, and my HR on her wrist gave the same poor results.

We have the Inspire HR's.  I'm under the impression that some of the advice given out on this forum, such as setting sensitivity, is not applicable?

BTW, the HR seems to sense that I went to bed within minutes.  Wake-up seems to be just as accurate.  I get a bad reading, similar to hers, maybe once a month.  So it's working pretty good for one of us anyway,

Exactly same problems I have with my 3 month old ( if not less) Fitbit inspire. Tracks steps while driving, does not track sleep, constantly needs restart. I'm really tired with setting up it all the time, it is just a watch, nothing more.

@lolseriously-- i'll quote myself, it's easier:

"I noticed that the inspire logs sleep but it doesn't show up on the inspire display until i sync it with the fitbit app. Once i sync it, *boom* it's right there in the app and on the inspire display. Not complaining though because my alta did not display logged sleep anyway. I had to sync it to see the sleep data in the fitbit app."

I'm not sure what the talky is between the Inspire and the app but sometimes it takes awhile before things that register in the app show up on the Inspire display.  In particular, logged sleep and logged water.  My understanding is that sleep is logged on the Inspire then pushed to the app upon sync; water is logged on the app then pushed to the Inspire upon sync.  I don't know what makes the sleep log show up on the Inspire so my guess would be the syncing process.

On my Inspire, all the auto-sensed things (sleep, steps, exercise) that register in the app eventually show up on the Inspire display.  Eventually.

Hope this helps.

I got my Fitbit Inspire HR maybe 2 months ago. Suddenly yesterday it stopped tracking my steps AND my sleep--the two features I bought the **ahem**ed thing for! Tried unsuccessfully to power down and restart. Very disappointing and I'm out over $80 for the purchase.

This is a ridiculous amount of work to go through to restore functionality. Kudos for figuring out a plan that works for you, but my problem is that the functions I lost (sleep and step tracking) are no longer selectable in the "Discover" section.

The app recently underwent a makeover and i noticed it takes a little
longer to push the sleep and water data back to show on the Inspire. I did
a couple more clear cache & forced stops to re-initiate the app and it's
working again. Your issue is with the app missing items. Perhaps clear
cache/forced stop might help. I'd rather do that than uninstall/re-install
that app. I hope it works for you. It may be awhile before the fitbit
programmers get on the ball and correct all these interface issues.

Check the app. With the most recent makeover, i noticed the communication
between the app and the Inspire was either not happening or significantly
delayed. It wasn't happening even with repeated sync'ing. So i clear
cache/forced stop then re-started the app 2 or 3 times until the
communication started up and was more timely. It's working now even though
the sleep & water data still take a long time to push back to and show up
on my Inspire.

Your inspire is probably still working but the app might need a kick in the
butt!

I have no idea how to fix your Fitbit nor why I am getting all of these
emails. I do not work for Fitbit, I just made the original post blasting
what crappy products Fitbit is now selling. And...the replacement fitness
tracker I received from Fitbit 3 months ago...to replace the one under
warranty that wouldn't work...has quit working in the same manner as the
first piece of crap. I just ordered a new fitness tracker and guess what
company doesn't make it. That's right, Fitbit. I'm done with their
garbage and their people who are of no help whatsoever.

I apologize that I misunderstood. Also sorry that your experience with Fitbit has also been negative.

Restated Fitbit Yesterday (soft restart) but it has still not given sleep stages this morning. How can this be fixed?

This was also main reason for buying the FB & it did work for a week and was great. I’m very disappointed.

Inspire is a piece of junk. To add insult to injury, you'll get no help
from the company other than a replacement that will break down within 3
months of receiving it. I tossed my Fitbit and bought a Samsung.

Hi!

I bought an inspire ( not HR) last week. I have been having tracking sleep problems since day one. I have reset it more than once. Since my major purpose of buying it was to track sleep, I am really frustrated. Kindly help. All other solutions you have mentioned have not worked. Thanks in advance.

If you have set sleep times on the app, go back and remove them. Let the Fitbit inspire pick up you sleep times on its own . I had the same trouble untill 3 days ago when I did this. The moon will still be greyed out in the morning untill you sync with the app then it will show your sleep hours 😁😁😁
