Inspire did track sleep on nite 1 but since not. The icon is dark on the fit bit. How do I turn it on?

This seemed to work for me.  My sleep showed up on my app which is where I care about it anyway. (The moon is indeed still dark on my Inspire.) Thank you!

After 6 years of using the Fitbit One, it finally died. We looked at the product line to find a suitable replacement since the Fitbit One isn't made anymore (too bad). The One had manual sleep tracking not automatic tracking and this worked very well for us.

We finally selected the Inspire since all we want is step and sleep tracking. The first two nights, it did track sleep but then it stopped. After three days and three calls to Customer Service where I was told the problem wasn't in the product, which I asked to be replaced, it was in the Fitbit system (whatever that means). I the asked to be connected to a supervisor and she told me that the Inspire did not track sleep. I pointed out to her that the product description clearly says it tracks sleep and it did track sleep for 2 nights. After a discussion, she reluctantly offered a return label so I could return it for a refund.

I also sent an email to Fitbit support. They thanked me for being a long time customer, wished me good luck and said "Goodby". They essentially have written me off. So now, I not only unhappy with Fitbit products, I am also unhappy with them as a company.

Six years ago, not long after I purchased the Fitbit One, it somehow fell out of the case on my belt and I lost it. After calling Fitbit Customer Service, they gladly agreed to replace my One at no charge. Now that was customer service. Today, customer service does not seem to be a priority.

I would also like to comment on the autodetection feature. According to the message above, you have to be motionless for an "about" an hour for sleep tracking to begin. This is a preposterous assumption. Lets look at a typical scenario (based on my past sleep records with the Fitbit One). Let's say that after about 10 minutes in bed, I fall asleep. I sleep for 55 minutes and then I roll over. I sleep for another 55 minutes and then get up to go to the bathroom. After I get back in bed, I fall asleep after 2 minutes. I then sleep for 55 minutes and roll over again. And so on for the rest of the night. Given that autodetection requires that you be motionless for "about" an hour, this means that sleep tracking would not kick in and none of my sleep that night would be tracked. In the example, I would have had 165 minutes (2.75 hours) of sleep and sleep tracking would still not have kicked in.

My question is, why did Fitbit give up on manual sleep tracking? With the Fitbit One, I held down the button until it vibrated when I was ready to go to sleep. This started the sleep tracking timer. In the morning, when I woke up, I would press the button again until it vibrated. This would turn off the sleep tracking timer. Then I would sync with the app and get my sleep. It worked wonderfully well for 6 years until the One died.

I do not have a smart phone (yes there are some of us out there) so my app runs on my Windows 10 desktop. It always worked fine with my old Fitbit One but now I have an Inspire. Does anyone have a procedure such as this for the Windows 10 app?

My sleep tracking worked wonderfully for 3 months and stopped working after daylight savings time. I finally got it working again by 1) Restarting my Inspire and 2) Resynching it. Not sure the restarting helped at all, but immediately after I resynched, my previous night sleep popped up and was accurate! Hope this helps!

This is the second time that Fitbit is disappointing me.

The first time was when I was using Alta HR and when I started using a Huawei smartphone, the Fitbit app did not work and for months I didn’t get any synced data because Fitbit didn’t even care about supporting the Huawei Mate 10 Pro back then.  So I threw the Alta HR away in disappointment and bought a Huawei Band at a fraction of the price.

Recently, I was happy that I found out Fitbit finally listened and added support for more Huawei smartphones, like the P30 Pro.  So I decided to give Fitbit another chance and bought the Inspire HR.  I was happy initially and it was tracking my sleep automatically since March 1st.  About two days ago, it stopped tracking.  All sleep data don’t get synced to the app anymore.  I’m trying out some suggested methods in this forum and will see if they would help.  Fingers crossed.

Disappointing.  Tried restarting multiple times, cleared cache on phone for the Fitbit app, forced stop of the app, restarted phone again.  Sleep tracking still didn’t work.

Less than two months and that’s just plain disappointment, to say the least.  I’m not going to use Fitbit ever again and will switch back to Garmin since I never had any sync issues ever.

Just in case... is your Bluetooth turned on? I’ve noticed I have accidentally shut mine off and it needs to be turned on for it to synch also..

Yes, I have verified that the Bluetooth is turned and I had my Fitbit configured as always  connected.  I even did sync many times by manually touching the sync icon.

the only tracking I get in sleep lately is one block of recorded sleep time, not patterns nor stages.  Is this a defect with the tracker itself? are you providing exchanges or refunds?  also, in the meantime, is there a solution or an update rather than sending the fitbit back?  Thank you.

I have the same problem and I just bought my inspire hr four days ago. It recorded the deep levels of sleep the first and third night. The second and fourth night I only get the superficial data. Same left wrist. Same tightness. Same sleep patterns. Why?????

I went drastic with my Samsung 7android phone.  Uninstalled my Fitbit app on my android phone.  Went to play store and reinstalled Fitbit app on the phone.  Opened the install for Fitbit.  Everything came back including the 3 nights of sleep information which was not there before.

Try completely deleting the app and start from scratch. Maybe that will work!

Mine was tracking for awhile then just suddenly stopped on March 9th. I have restarted my fitbit and my phone. It has continued to track my steps but still not my sleep. This is very frustrating.

Hi, it happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I plugged my fitbit into it's charger & reset it, took 2 attempts but touch wood it has been ok since. I find it tends to do this when it's had an update, not every time but it did on the last one. Yes it is very frustrating. Fingers crossed the above works for you if you try it.

Same here. If I stir in the middle of the night it may start tracking from then until about 1/2 hour before I get up. I need to log on to correct the sleep duration nearly every night.
