Hello All
This is my first post on here. I have been using my One for about 5 years and it is starting to need charging more often etc etc.
I bought an Alta, but couldn't get along with it round my wrist, so have been looking at the Inspire and using it with the clip.
I wanted to ask, with the One, you press and hold the button for the sleep tracking - is the Inspire the same. I generally clip the one to the neck of my PJ's for sleeping and keep it in my pocket all day.
I am hoping to be able to use the Inspire in the same way.
Thank you
G xx

@gneil , I think that the advice would be to wear your Inspire on your wrist while you sleep. As yu may remember, even though you could clip yur One to your pajamas for sleeping, Fitbit actually recommended the supplied sleep wrist band for sleeping with the One.
If you wear the Inspire with wristband to bed, it should track your sleep automatically and you should see your stats after you sync when you wake up. You will not need to press the button and start sleep.
The Fitbit Inspire instruction manual does not make it clear what happens if instead you wear the Inspire clip to bed. I think that for sleep you are recommended to use the wristband. However, if you do decide to try the clip for sleep, perhaps you would like report back here? That will help other users!
@BBurgDave the Inspire HR works a little differently for sleep. Because it has HR monitoring it will give deeper insights into light sleep, deep sleep and REM sleep, whereas the Inspire without HR will really only track periods of sleep and wakefulness.
Like the Inspire when worn on the wrist, the Inspire HR will detect sleep automatically and you will not need to start it using the button.
Welcome both of you to the forums!

Good question! I hope the answer is that it auto detects sleeping like the Charge does. Another related question is “ how do the Inspire and Inspire HR differ in this regard?

I have the Inspire (non-hr as i wanted the clip).. and I've found that if i have the clip setting turned on and it attached to me, it does NOT count my sleep for that night. I have to have the wrist setting and it on my wrist for it to count my actual sleep. I'm not sure if this is normal or if my device is just odd.
Sadly, I didn't notice this until just this week - so I went 17 Feb until 7 March (so last Thursday) with no sleep results. I've also noticed that I can't feel the vibration any longer when it's on my wrist (i have no problem noticing it when it's in the clip or on the bedside table (for example)).

Hi, @ValerieAnne , thanks for clarifyng. That is very helpful and may help other users. My guess is that yours is working as expected. That is because for sleep detection Fitbit recommends wearing it on the wrist -- so it would probsbly also need to have the "on wrist" setting turned on for the program to be alerted to begin sleep detection.

The Inspire tracks sleep in the clip, but not accurately, if at all 😥. I'm disappointed with that feature, and I'm just finding out it doesn't track floors. My One died, I miss it, I wish they would make a more compatible fitbit

Hold the button down for a few seconds and a menu will pop up. The menu includes battery percentage, Screen Wake, Notifications and 'On Wrist'. Click 'On Wrist' if you'd like to switch to in clip (and vise versa)

It is already in clip mode, it's not working

@Johanna247 , in order to track sleep accurately you will need to set your Inspire to wrist mode and wear it on your wrist.

Hi, @Shimmer-Moon , you can find more detailed info from Fitbit about sleep tracking here
When you say it doesn’t track your sleep at all, even though you are wearing it on the wrist and have the “on wrist” setting, what do you mean? What do you see when you click on the sleep tile in your app?

Yes, it’s the same for me. I have the Inspire, not Inspire HR because having it on the clip throughout the day is an important feature for me. I wear it under my clothes on the clip all day, and then switch to the wrist band for sleeping. However, a few times I have forgotten to change the settings from clip to wrist, and in that case even though it was on my wrist all night, it didn’t track sleep at all. I had to enter it manually for those nights, but of course it’s not that accurate because then I’m not carving those times when I toss and turn or wake up and can’t go back to sleep for awhile. I try to remember to change the setting now!
