I just got my Fitbit Inspire in the mail and was so excited to set it up, however I cannot to get it to sync to my phone no matter what I do! I have the fitbit and my phone both plugged in. I have tried quitting the app, restarting my phone, and re-connecting to bluetooth. My fitbit is on but won't connect. Help!

Was trying to connect my new Fitbit Inspire to my iPhone 7, but with no joy.  Did all the suggested troubleshooting, still wouldn't connect.  I tried chosing Inspire HR instead of the Inspire as the device to connect to,  and like a miracle, they are connecting!  At 53%!! Will keep you posted!

Thanks for this suggestion. Mine doesn't say anything other than Inspire on it either but after an hour of trying and re-trying I took this suggestion and voila! Now it's connected and updating.

I had the exact same issue this morning, selected Inspire HR and it connected immediately.

I bought an inspire as well and have been trying to pair it all day. It works when selecting Inspire HR as the device. Thanks for the tip!!!!

Thanks for the post. The box I received as a Christmas gift said Inspire as well. Wouldn’t install until I set it up as the HR version thanks to this forum.

I was having this same problem. I called Fitbit support line. They were so helpful. it ended up that I had purchased a fitbit inspire HR even though the box said fitbit inspire. So it did connect when I used the inspire HR. had bought this fitbit from Amazon. So if this is your frustration, give it a try. Maybe you just got and upgrade without knowing it!

Ya, it's working now. The fix was that I needed to install the Fitbit
software on my phone and then find the Setup button (which was moved to a
different location), accept terms and conditions and then select the
Inspire HR - which found my device (which was attached). I expected the
bluetooth pairing to happen the normal way, with discovery/pairing in
Settings/Bluetooth.

Anyways, it all works now.

So glad I found this! I specifically bought an Inspire and NOT the HR because it was cheaper. My receipt even said Inspire. I was ready to throw this thing in the trash after getting it for Christmas and by syncing it as an Inspire HR it finally worked. THANK YOU!!!

Oh my goodness yes!  This worked. I have an Inspire and have been trying for hours to get Bluetooth connected and nothing worked (despite deleting, redownloading, turning phone off and on again countless times etc). I definitely have an Inspire but when I restarted the process and said it was an Inspire HR it worked!!  Thank you so much !

This was very helpful. I chose Inspire HR and it worked. They should mark that somewhere so people know to try it. Wasted an hour with repeated attempts to connect with Inspire.

HAHA!! That was it!

After two weeks of screwing with thing and contacting Fitbit people who couldn't help (even though so many people had the exact same problem,) it was that the device was an Inspire "HR" and not just an Inspire. My box doesn't even say "HR" on it. I went into the setup and entered a different device, and BOOM, it was syncing. Thank God I read your post. I was sending this thing back today. Awesome! Thank you!

I am having similar issue. I was able to set up my Fitbit inspire and sync to my iPhone 8.  All apps are up-to-date.  However, my Fitbit was not syncing yesterday (day 2 of owning it) so I uninstalled everything and tried to resync last night- no luck.  Was able to sync this morning but it is now 2:00 and it is de-coupled and will no longer sync.
what can I do?

I've had that a few instance of that - the sync doesn't work on my Fitbit
app on my iPhone 8s. What I do is restart the Fitbit app on my iPhone 8s
(double click the home button and you'll get all the apps, then I swipe up
to stop the app - after that find the fitbit app on the iPHone and click on
it, which does a full restart of the app itself). This seems to work on my
iPhone 8s.

You know what the problem was? The problem was that they don't bother to tell people that their Inspire is actually an Inspire HR, so customers waste a lot of time trying to figure out why their brand new device isn't working, even though they're following all of the directions.

Thanks for replying...lots of frustrated people out there, apparently.
