Is Inspire linked to satellite.

I've got an Alta, which i like, but my wife is looking to get an Inspire. When I got my Alta, there was one of the range (I thought Inspire) that relied on having your mobile phone with you, to link to the satellite.......does the current inspire link directly to satellite?

No Inspire (HR or plain) has GPS built in.
Inspire HR (only the HR model, not the plain one) has connected GPS capability:

the only tracker that currently has built in GPS is the Ionic. The rest rely on the phone.
