Is my Inspire HR Toast

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I briefly got my Inspire HR wet in the ocean on vacation. After that the device quickly died and when I went to charge it, I got the 🙂 symbol and then nothing. Days later, after plugging into my laptop, it comes to life again! It took a long time to get to 100% battery and now it is instantly dropping down to 30% or less within a few minutes. It's 2 years old. I am wondering if any warranty applies or there is a reset process.

Thanks!

@SunsetRunner I never recommend charging Fitbits using a laptop as the charging process is so slow and possibly not complete.  If you are confident that your Fitbit is now dry, I would recommend plugging it in to any UL/CE wall plug that will accept the usb charging cable (the plug that came with your phone is probably ideal).  Give it two hours charge on mains electricity and then try the reset process following the instructions in this help article .

After that, please monitor how long it takes for the battery to get critically low (below 20%).  All rechargeable batteries will deteriorate over time, and how long will vary depending on how it has been used.  For best results your Fitbit should ideally be kept approximately 30-80% charged.  Occasional deep discharges will not do significant harm, but allowing the battery frequently to fall to critical levels before recharging will certainly shorten its overall life.

The maximum warranty period for any Fitbit in any jurisdiction is two years, so if your Inspire HR is older than that it is unlikely to be covered.  However, if the battery performance is now unacceptable to you please do get in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on Contact.Fitbit.com as they may have an offer for you if you would like to upgrade.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

Thanks so much, Julie! Yes my primary method of charging is via electrical outlet. My laptop was only used to get my Inspire back on. I will take a look at the guide and also reach out to customer service, as this issue is definitely related to the battery.

Thanks again!
