Is there a way to adjust the brightness on the fitbit Inspire HR? When I sleep and move it flickers on and off and it’s very bright.

Hi @jillianszy  No, I dont think your device is defective. The screens do wake if bumped as well (I think they see it as a tap) and there is nothing you can do about that. Mine doesnt bother me at night, but if yours does, and you want it to still track yoir sleep you could wear a soft sweat band sort of thing over to top ofnit at night to block out the light.

Hi @Tamfellows, good to see you around.

As far as I know it's not possible to adjust the screen brightness. Although if you press and hold the side button and scroll down you will see the option to disable automatic screen wake. You could disable it for when you are sleeping, and then enable it again when you wake up.

I have disabled the screen wake function as stayed above and my Inspire still lights up. Is my device defective?

Hi, I have the same problem and the same questions. It would be very nice if we could switch off the automatic lights on during nights.

It bothers me and my husband as well.

I disabled my screen wake for this very reason. It wasn’t coming on constantly at night. Just scroll through and hit the little light bulb and it’s will stop the motion that when you flick your wrist it comes on. Now I  just tap mine like my old flex to check stats

That was the first thing I tried. It didn't work.

I was just going to order this, but having it wake me up flashing lights into my eyes is a problem. We live in the country, no street lights, just natural lighting (moon, no moon).

I disabled quick view on mine too, and it still comes on. I agree with another poster that it must be registering taps when I roll over.

It’s driving me nuts. It wakes me up!

Why is there no way to disable the tap to wake? It is very frustrating!

I think a good solution would be to require a long press of the side button to reinstate the screen light.

I tried putting a headband around it at night. It did block the bright light, but I noticed that it was still coming on as the band moved across the screen.

So, even though it’s not waking me up (yay), the battery is wearing down (sigh). I gave up and put electrical tape over the screen!

I too have this issue at bight AND during the day it is reverse- especially outdoors - I can’t see it to read it!!!

Best Answer

Me too. I  can't read it in full sunshine and have to wear a separate watch to tell the time full stop as you can imagine it is not the greatest look I think I'm going to have to get a different tracker

I am very disappointed in the Fitbit I bought. It is impossible to see the display in sunlight. I will be returning it and looking elsewhere. I’ve been a loyal fitbit wearer for several years. Too bad they never improved the display.

Agree - brightness is a problem.  I want to be able to glance at the screen to see my HR multiple times while running;  instead I that i have to stop running, scroll to the correct display and shade the screen with my hand.  This totally disrupts my pace. Am i doing something wrong or expecting too much?

When it had green display the alta was easier to read. The white numbers don’t show in sunlight. It is a mission to read. Do you think it was a cost cutting move that has ended with this vastly inferior product?

I returned mine. What is the point of having a tracker you can’t see???
Best Answer

I can't see mine either. Even in the shade. It's useless as a watch if you are outside. I have a Charge 3. So I does my husband and he can see his outside. Plus he can  just moved his hand and it turns it on. Mine doesn't do that. I have to press the button. How could they be so different?

Best Answer

Crazy!! Have you found the auto turn on setting? There is a way on the alta to stop it turning on when you move your arm while asleep. Otherwise how do we get your husband's version of the device?? I want one i can see

I have a Fitbit charge 3. It's hard to see it at all outside. Even on the
Normal brightness level. I got a bigger clock face so that might help.

I find when I use the "Stat Heavy" clockface, it is dim and the numbers are hard to see anyway because they are so small. I now use "Simple Stats" clockface and it is brighter and easier to read.
