Kilojoules displayed in app, but calories displayed on the device.

I’ve set my Fitbit app to display energy measurements in KJ but my Fitbit HR Inspire continues to display energy in calories on the device.

So the app works in KJ (which is great) but the device displays in calories (which is wrong). Surely when changing energy measurements in the app it should reflect these changes on the device too?

Now I’m stuck using metric system in the app and imperial units on the device. How do I fix this and make my units consistent between the app and the device?

Nice to see you around @zeelie.t, thanks for sharing this information with us. I really appreciate the steps that you've tried before contacting us.

Please confirm the instructions on how to change your units of measurement in the Fitbit app, here: How do I change the units of measurement on my Fitbit device?

Then please sync you Fitbit and confirm that your selected the correct country on the settings.

Keep me posted on the resolution.

Hi Yojana. Thanks for your reply!

Yup, in the app I’ve selected KJ. This was in Account / Advanced Settings / Units.

In the web dashboard, under settings, you can only adjust some units (centimeter, kilogram and meters). There’s no option to choose between calories and kilojoules.

The energy graph displayed on the web dashboard is in calories (same as my Fitbit) not in kilojoules. So at this stage, it’s only my app that’s displaying energy units correctly - in KJ.

I have synced the device after each step and this hasn't made a difference.

Is there a place, somewhere in the dashboard, where I can select KJ for the energy units?

You also mentioned something about ensuring that I have the correct country selected. What country should be selected, and why does this have an impact on the units of measurement?

When I first got my device the country was set to US, but given these imperial / metric display issues, I switched to the UK. This didn’t make any difference. Should I be selected a different country to enable KJ for some reason?

Thanks!

Anyone else having the same issue or perhaps know of a fix for this bug? Thanks in advance!

I'm in Australia and we are modern and use metric. I can't enter food when I'm logged into the Desktop because it's all in Calories, and I haven't used that measurement since I was a teenager, I don't have a clue how to calculate the difference.

Hi Yohjana

Thanks for taking the time to look into this

The help you've linked to explains how to change your units of measurement in the Fitbit App and fitbit.com dashboard, but zeelie.t's question, and mine too, relates to how to change the units of measurement on the DEVICE.

I've successfully changed the app and the dashboard, but it is the DEVICE that I can't find out how to do.

Do you have any information about this? Appreciate your help.
