Lightening Bolt activity on Inspire HR

Hello, I just started using my fitbit 3 days ago. I worked yesterday and it logged that I was working out on the excersize lightening bolt and today I am doing the same strenuous activity and it isn't logging anything. Is there something wrong with the fitbit? I did go in last night and schedule that I was walking, but I am not sure that would mess anything up. I thought this gadget was supposed to pick up when I am working out...or doing strenuous activity.

Thank you for the assistance.

The lightning bolt is for 'active minutes' which have a precise definition, specifically it requires a certain level of intensity continued for at least 10 minutes.

These are independent from whether something is recorded as a 'Walk' or any other type exercise.

My lightning bolt shows 58 minutes of activity yet I took a 3 mile hike then worked around the house. In total about 3 hours and nearly 9000 steps. I can't believe this is true by any measure.

Mine is doing this as well.

It also is supposed to count the number of flights of stairs.

Which is why I upgraded to this model. It works maybe 2% of the time and no way log/add flights of stairs to track.

Its supposed to auto recognize outdoor bike riding after 10 minutes. I biked about 96 minutes before realizing it had not counted a **ahem** thing because it buzzed at me that I needed to get at walk my 250 steps!

Ummm what?!?!?!

Yet when I mow the yard it auto counts as elliptical. Great.

Im switching to a non fit bit. A product that does what it says and customer support that has better answers than uhhh well I dunno know its supposed to work.

None of the Inspire family count flights of stairs.  They do not have have the altimeter to measure altitude differences used to get stairs.  If you have a source that says otherwise, I would be interested to see that.

The 250 steps "reminder to move" is based only on step count.  Steps are normally not applicable in bike riding unless falsely detected from wrist vibrations.

For workout detection, many people find it better to use the Exercise App on the tracker to start and end the workout to make sure it gets detected and categorized correctly.  Even if your bike ride was not credited as a workout, it would still accumulate to your daily totals of calories burned and Zone Minutes if heart rate high enough.

What did you get?  We’ve been stuck at an airport and haven’t don’t much since maybe 2:30am.  Yet my “active minutes” show 32 and the circle on my watch face is closed.  Don’t think I was that active at that time but maybe.
