Measuring steps recorded steps with walking with a stick and Inspire HR

I wear my Fitbit on my dominant wrist which is also the one I hold a walking stick with if I need it.  It syncs with my Sony Xperia 5.  I have found that, when I use my stick for walking, it only measures every other step thus under-recording my overall number of steps and distance.  Is there a way around this?

Thanks for getting back to us @henaddict.

  • Wear your device on top of your wrist. For best results, the back of your device should be in contact with your skin for features like heart-rate tracking.
  • Make sure that your band isn't too tight. Wear it loose enough that it can move back and forth on your wrist.
  • During exercise, try moving the band higher on your wrist (2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone) to get a better fit so it's secure, but not too tight. Lower the band on your wrist and loosen it after exercise.

Do you walk slower when you use the walking stick? I use a walking stick and records my steps okay. Do you use the stick with your dominant or non dominant hand?

I´ll be waiting for your response.

Thanks for getting back to us and for the clarification @henaddict. I remember that when I started wearing the Charge, it didn't record my floors. It was the way I was wearing it.

Try wearing it as recommended. Do you get accurate step count when you walk without the walking stick? Do you use it all the time (the walking stick)? Sometimes I don't use it and it really doesn't change the records.

Please give me more information about how you wear your device and I'll to continue helping you.
