Many of us posted a need to have floor counting as part of the next Alta version because we didn't want the bulky Charge. So disappointed to see a new model replace the Alta without that feature. Fitbit was able to fit altimeter in the One so should be able to fit it into the new Inspire. Looks lovely but will not buy, would not have gotten Alta if it was clear it was a step back from my One instead of step forward. Everyone beware as your feedback seems to fall on deaf ears at Fitbit.

I agree, My Fitbit One crapped out a year ago, and I've been holding out on a new wrist option (with clip) that would include an altimeter. I refused to purchase a new one until this feature became available. This past weekend I finally gave up and ordered the Charge 3 but I have a feeling I'll be returning it once I see how big & bulky it looks like on my size 5-3/4 inch wrist. PLEASE Fitbit, include the altimeter feature on one of the smaller, slimmer Fitbits!!! Or better yet, replace or re-issue the Fitbit One.

Pricing may be different where you live.
But the One is not more expensive than the Inspire.
The Inspire costs the same as the One when it was still in market.
However, the clip is now an additional accessory.
This makes the Inspire cost more and lack features in comparison.
Not the opposite.
The sad reality is, for One owners whose trackers are reaching the end of their life, there is no equivalent option available any more.
When inquired about, I was advised by the Fitbit team themselves that the Inspire is an alternative to replace my One, when in actuality, it is not.

I wonder what does it mean “approachable and affordable” in this context. Fitbit One had the altimeter and it’s was cheaper and smaller (if not the same size) as the Inspire. So really trying to understand how come the Inspire (who is supposed to be a more advanced tracker) does not offer the same what a basic model from 5 years ago would offer.
the reason I got inspire was because I can turn it into a clip on tracker, given that Fitbit has discontinued the One.
I have been a faithful Fitbit user since the beginning, I sang the company’s praises to countless friends and many bought the device due to my incessant nagging so we can competed together. I feel though like Fitbit is messing things up lately:
1. Discontinuing the One and not offering a clip on option. Several users have fancy watches which we prefer to wear (due to job positions, preferences etc) I don’t see why we need to compromise on wearing a plastic watch just to see where we are in our fitness journey.
2. I bought the inspire 3 days ago only to discover that one of the most beloved features (the altimeter) is not offered. My bad, I just assumed that such an insignificant features available years ago will come on the newest models regardless. It’s like when I buy a new iPhone, I don’t check to see if they still have GPS in the new model - if it’s in the previous models, one would assume it is offered in a more expensive newer model. But no, Fitbit decided to take out a feature that would have probably costed max couple of USD to incorporate. Protect your margin by few dollars, lose your customers. Great company strategy!
I will continue to use it, but keep an eye out on what competition has to offer. Utterly utterly disappointed by Fitbit!

Thank you, Roxanna. You have described my situation perfectly. I am actively looking at other brands. Fitbit has apparently dismissed a large group of us who want the basics we had on the One, and prefer or need the clip option. Seems to me that a clip option would be easy for them to provide on most if not all of the devices.

The Fitbit One had a retail price of $99 back in 2003 when it was released. The Inspire HR is $99, the Inspire is $69.
No the One was not cheaper.
As for size, the One is on the right.

Not in Canada. The One retailed for $99.99 CAD from local retailers. Same retail price as the Inspire (non-HR) and I have to buy the clip as a separate accessory to boot.

So nice we can purchase “another” tracker to count our floors! What a rip off. I didn’t see any notice that you dropped floor counting “before” I purchased my new inspire hr or I WOULDN’T have bought it. Climbing stairs is a big health benefit, so why just arbitrarily drop it? Even athletes run stairs as part of their workouts. Not sure if I’ll ever buy another product from your company.

I totally agree. I am so disappointed and angry about the floor feature missing too. What the heck!??! Like you said, it was on the One so it’ll be on the Inspire? Right? Wrong! Stair climbing is a main exercise for health and stamina. Didn’t they say this tracker aimed at that? So...WHY remove it. Did they think the couple extra dollars would be too much for us to pay? Thumbs down to the mindless idiot who came up with that...and his mindless boss who said...hey that’s a great idea. Let’s mess with our customers minds and give them something to really disappoint them. Make sure though that they BUT IT first though before they find out.

Hi Matt-
I am a huge fitbit fan and have been using different trackers for almost 10 years. I just purchased a new Inspire, on the recommendation from Fitbit support, to replace my One that stopped syncing suddenly without explanation. It was old and I have had to replace it before so I was okay with that. But then I saw that you no longer made the One and I decided to purchase the Inspire. I was also disappointed that the stairs feature was not available. I have read the other comments about the size/price issues with including the altimeter but the One was not overly expensive and was not much larger than the Inspire so I can't help but thinking that what I just purchased in a downgrade from the previous model. It seems that everything that is now available has gotten more complex which is taking away from some of the simple features we loved. Is there any possibility that in the future there will be something similar to the One available? A simple device that syncs to my phone, can be worn discretely, and tracks basic activities (steps, miles, stairs). I hope that this is in the works.
