My Inspire 2 registers too many steps

I posted something similar over a year back, I wanted to see if there was going to be perhaps a better solution like a firmware update?

My inspire 2 counts steps that (I would have hoped) the device and app should already know is impossible. We're talking spikes of 2-10k steps randomly throughout the day or night. There can be several of these in close clusters over a few hours. Step counts in excess of 60k for the day are not uncommon due to the spikes.

They happen regardless of whether the tracking band is being worn or not. Sometimes I forget to put on the band after the shower and put it back one 2 days later and see I've nailed down tens of thousands of steps during the time I was gone. One time this past spring I got a notification that the days steps had put me over some sort of milestone. The only catch was I had not been wearing the band for sometime and did not even have battery left at that point.

I recently tried a factory reset of the band, reinstalled the mobile application, and was disappointed that the problem still persists. 

Does fitbit intend to push out a solution to this issue? Perhaps at least a super simple algorithm that automatically deletes step spikes that are clearly impossible? What I am not looking for is being told I must manually enter in sleeping or driving time daily to combat these phantom steps.
