Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Amydee83.
Thank you for trying to resolve the issue with your Fitbit Inspire HR before contacting us.
For instructions on how to negate steps from your Fitbit account, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
To prevent this situation from occurring again, I would recommend restarting your Tracker by following these steps.
Hope this helps.

This issue occurred for me last week, but has now happened again today. It tracks 8000+ steps in a 20 minute period, both times while wearing the device and lying in bed just after waking up. I did reset my device last week and am up to date on software. I'm pointing out the fact that it happened again as I'm thinking this is a recurring bug that needs to be resolved.
