My Inspire HR is not recognizing swimming

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought the Inspire HR as supposed to automatically recognise my swim but not managing to do this. Firstly recorded my swim twice as eliptical training, so I turned off this option as recommended. Now it doesn't recognise that I've done anything so manually inputting which is a pain. Any advice much appreciated, thanks. I'm on android phone for syncing.

Hi @Morbs nice to see you around. Welcome to the Community Forums!

I'll be glad to give you a hand with the information that you need about using your Fitbit to swimming activities. Thank you for the troubleshooting steps that you've tried before contacting us. Sorry to hear that your Inspire HR was tracking your swimming activities as workout activities.

As you may know, your Fitbit Inspire HR automatically tracks your swim duration and pool lengths completed. Please remember to enter your pool length to track your distance and duration. For instructions, see How do I set the pool length for my Fitbit device?

SmartTrack automatically recognizes and records high-movement activities at least 15 minutes long. I'd suggest to confirm the amount of time required for the activity to be recorded.

It can be changed on your Fitbit App:
  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history.
  2. Tap the gear icon
  3. Tap an exercise and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

Your Fitbit Inspire can record your swims even if you were a novice swimmer, meaning you can swim about 6 to 12 lengths of the pool without stopping to rest. As your swimming ability improves, you’ll likely notice fewer inconsistencies in your data.

Please note that inconsistencies in your swim data may be caused by any of the following:

  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized

Please confirm that you've followed the restart steps suggested here. If that doesn't work, we might have to check with our support team.

I'll be around, please keep me posted.

I’m having the same issue with my inspire. I swim for about an hour, no stopping and using same stroke and it does not auto recognise the activity - initially it recognised it as elliptical so turned that off and now nothing. I have restarted the device several times and this doesn’t help. Very annoying to have to track manually as the ability to track swimming was one of the reasons I bought this device.
