My inspire will not track my sleep, I've restarted it then took a nap but still nothing. Why won't it automatically track my sleep? I've done all the suggested things.

"You would think so but no I guess not. Fitbit sent me a new Inspire but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I really want it to work!"
Susan - Could you report back if the new one works?
I (ahem) had a small nap after dinner today. Still no sleep tracking, so switching from Clip mode to Wrist mode doesn't work either. I've only had mine for a week, but ...
a) All Inspires do not sleep track? Or only some?
b) Anyone know about the HR model?
There are quite a few $25 - $35 fitness trackers on Amazon rated at 4.5 or above, and some with over 100 reviews. (For comparison, Fitbit, yeah, I'm talking to you: the Inspire has a lowly 3.5, and costs sometimes more than twice as much!) Originally, I was thinking of just replacing the Inspire, but I do like the step tracking, and web site info, and my company has us with linked accounts to Walkadoo. Now I'm thinking, still get one of those $30 trackers, but only use it for sleeping. Yeah, a solution I shouldn't need to do, but ... If the Inspire won't track sleep, then it won't track sleep ... Still might try and return it though. But I have time to see if any solutions pop up here.

Mine tracked my sleep for a week, now pretty much nothing. I've done a reset, I've followed this thread, still nothing. What gives? I've paid for the product, which is missing things advertised. Where do I get a free replacement?

Mine never worked, but I'm still hoping for a fix. Because mine wasn't working, I got a cheap fitness tracker on Amazon. It tracks sleep, but not very well. I'm still playing around with it though.
I had a Flex 2 (that I lost), and I thought it did a great job tracking sleep. Still hoping the Inspire (ahem) can aspire to that level of performance.
A few other links of note, while I was surfing the net today ...
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/17/technology/personaltech/sleep-tracking-devices-apps.html
"Fitbit said in a statement that it took accuracy very seriously and that its team continuously studied and tested the accuracy of its products. "
Hopefully that's true, regarding the Inspire.
Another Inspire person having the problem:
And loads of comments here about the bigger sibling Inspire HR:
Saw one comment in there that this has been going on for 3 months. Maybe the Inspire people need to talk to the Flex 2 people ...

Shoot, that's good, but that's bad. That would seem to indicate it's a hardware problem, and not software ...
And then how does anyone know if they buy one now, if it'll be a good one or not?
Fitbit should make some kind of official statement on this ...

Well now. I just got the latest software update (finally), and my Inspire might be tracking sleep properly. Stay tuned!

They sent me a new device and it works! So happy!
Yes! Glad yours is working. There were two recent updates pushed out that helped a lot of devices.
Agreed. I hope they didn’t realize the widespread problem when they first started selling the devices. The recent two software updates seem to have fixed the auto tracking issues for a lot of the devices.

I spoke too soon. For some reason, right after I upgraded the software, it registered 62 min of sleep. This was about noon Sun. It did not track the nap or two I took later on Sun. It did not track any sleep last night. (And yes, I did sleep last night.)
I'll try resetting it, and see if that does anything. Just very odd.

Nope, still not working. No idea why it did log 62 min of sleep right after I upgraded the software Sun at noon, but nothing since for sleep. Did reset it last night, but no change. I've had it in clip mode, I'll try wrist mode, and sensitive for sleep, but I'm not hopeful. Maybe it is hardware after all.

I'll be around if you need anything else or further assistance with your replacement Inspire.
@Mwirwin Seems odd that your device only tracked sleep information for a week, thanks for your effort and patience troubleshooting this situation with our restart process. To better assist you with this and so we can move forward, can you please let me know if the troubleshooting steps that were previously posted on this thread were already took in consideration? In the meantime I receive your answer, please let me know which mobile device you're currently using and check this help article for general information about sleep tracking: How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
@Jumbotron Your understanding and patience with this situation is greatly appreciated, seems odd that even after the update you're still experiencing sleep tracking difficulties. Hi there Ricardo - I'm syncing with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017), SMT-380. (My tablet has the latest Android rev, the app is the latest rev, and the Inspire itself now has the latest software.) The problem isn't with the Samsung though.
I get no sleep tracking on the Inspire itself. The moon icon is always in shadow, with 2 dots below it. ... Except for the 62min right after I updated its software, Sun at noon. Like I mentioned, I had a Flex 2, and that tracked steps and sleep. The Inspire I have now, only tracks steps not sleep, seemingly no matter what I do. It would be great if you could come up with a solution though! 🙂

Let's see if this works ... Ok, I lost my Flex 2, July 6th. Sleep tracking stopped, except for that 62min on Sun. Steps started tracking again when I got the Inspire. So syncing is working fine.

Thanks for your reply and update @Jumbotron, my apologies for the delay in responding your post.
I appreciate all the information and the pictures that were attached in your post, such information was really helpful for me to better understand your situation. Also, I appreciate your patience troubleshooting this situation. Since your Inspire is not tracking sleep at all, please try the following steps:
1. Manually sync your Fitbit.
2. Restart your Inspire HR
3. Please try sleeping with the device on your non-dominant hand after trying the above.
Please keep me posted, I'll be around.

I've already tried that. A few times before I updated the software, and twice since. Still not tracking sleep.
Have even tried Sensitive mode, Wrist vs Clip mode, still nothing.
I will try again tonight, and report back tomorrow though.

Ok, so now it's sort of working? 😉
Here are the last few days of data:
Mon to Tues: 4:54 hrs of sleep
Sun to Mon: 1:09 hrs of sleep
Sat to Sun: 4:58 hrs of sleep
Fri to Sat: 4:16 hrs of sleep
This isn't (yet) as accurate as the Flex 2 was. I most certainly got more than an hr of sleep, Sunday night to Monday, and from Fri to Sat and Sat to Sun, I slept in both days, and I most certainly got more than 4:16 and 4:58 respectively. But *maybe* it's getting better? I will continue to track, and post again in a few days.
** The manual syncing then immediate reset seemed to be the trick, but actually, I did that SUNDAY, so it had tracked Fri to Sat and Sat to Sun even before I did that (I don't specifically sync every day, or look at the data every day). No idea why it just "turned on", when I hadn't done anything different than during the prior *weeks* when it was not working ...
But again, maybe it's working now, and maybe it's getting better.

I give up. Stopped tracking sleep again after I posted on Tuesday. Not Tues night to Wed, and not Wed night to today, even though it's still tracking steps, and even though I didn't do anything different. My Inspire at least, won't track sleep consistently.

It seems to be a common issue for the Inspire. I bought it as my first Fitbit at the end of June brand new and it was all working fine until about three weeks ago when it stopped tracking sleep and exercise. I have tried everything suggested on this thread to rectify it and it still is not working. I really don't know what to do.
