My Inspire won't track my sleep

My inspire will not track my sleep, I've restarted it then took a nap but still nothing. Why won't it automatically track my sleep? I've done all the suggested things.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Rlk1910. I´ll be glad to assist you with your sleep tracking inquiry. Thank you for letting us know that you have already restarted the device and done all the suggested things.

In order to record your sleep:

1. Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit trackers sync their data?
2. Try sleeping with the tracker on their non-dominant hand.

Let me know how it goes.

I had a fitbit Alta(which died), and it tracked my sleep automatically. Why should I have to manually log my sleep, when my other fitbit did it by it's self?

Can anyone explain why the inspire doesn't automatically track your sleep? When I restarted it, nothing changed. When I manually track my sleep, it's not correct. I've also tried sleeping with it on my non dominant hand and nothing. Please help.

I apologize for the delayed response and thank you for getting back to us @Rlk1910. Thank you for letting us know that you have restarted your device and tried using your it on your non dominant hand.

Fitbit Inspire should track your sleep automatically. How is your sleep sensitivity set: normal or sensitive? Have you changed your sleep habits since you changed your Fitbit?

I´ll be waiting for your response.

Thanks for getting back to us and for your question @Rlk1910

To change your sleep sensitivity:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon .
  2. Tap Advanced Settings > Sleep Sensitivity.
  • The normal setting counts significant movements as being awake (such as rolling over) and is appropriate for most users.
  • The sensitive setting will cause your device to record nearly all movements as time spent restless or awake. This setting may be helpful for users who wake up feeling tired even though their sleep history shows sufficient rest.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

I tried following directions on the dashboard, my dashboard in the advanced area doesn't have a sleep sensitivity setting. Also my inspire doesn't vibrate at the 10 minute before the hour mark. I restarted again to see if it makes a difference. If you have any other suggestions, please do.

Did you get this fixed? Mine still doesn’t auto track activities or sleep. Hours on the phone with support and numerous email. I’m so frustrated!

Best Answer
Nope, I never did get it fixed. I just manually track my sleep every day.

That is just so wrong. People need to know before they buy an Inspire that it is probably not going to work as advertised! No one holding the company accountable so they just don’t care

True story, I had a alta which tracked my sleep perfectly. Until it died, they sent me a new one which died a month and a half later. That's why I bought the inspire. Oh well.

I had a Flex 2, it was really good at tracking my sleep, even stuffed in my waist band, because I'm not a wrist-wearing person.  Lost it.  Got an Inspire, and am using it with a clip, and using it with the clip setting.  Not tracking my sleep at all.  The Flex 2 even tracked my dozings in front of the TV, I thought that was pretty cool.   Inspire?  Nothing.

Ok, just changed the Normal sleep tracking to sensitive.  I'll report back.

Rereading the description up above, seems like Sensitive would be even less likely to track it properly though

Good luck, I've tried everything to get mine to track and nothing worked.

Well, I tried rebooting it, and changing the setting from normal to sensitive, still not tracking sleep properly.  I'll try back to normal, but I'm not hopeful.  It worked on the Flex 2, and that was an older model.  Don't understand why it's not working on the Inspire.

I had an Alta, the sleep tracker worked perfectly. This is a major downer for the inspire.

Rebooting, and switching from Normal to Sensitive, and then back to Normal, still not tracking Sleep at all.  My Inspire is broken, faulty, defective.  Purchased brand new.

One more thing I'll try, is to change the config from Clip, how I'm using it now, to wrist, and see if that does anything.  The Flex 2 I had, which did track sleep properly, didn't have a clip setting, but it still seemed to track my steps close enough.

It sounds like the same problem I have. Apparently it is a problem with the software. I was hoping the update yesterday would fix it but it didn’t

Software ...  That should be easy to fix.   Smiley Wink

I already have my eye on some much more highly rated trackers on Amazon.  I'll keep playing with the Inspire for a few more days, and if I can't get it to work, I'll return it.

You know what the irony is?  I got the Flex 2 free at work.  I just wanted it for the steps.  But I looked at the sleep tracking as much as I did the activity tracking.  So I lose the Flex 2, and I buy an Inspire with my own money, and it doesn't work right.  Sigh ...  Maybe I should have paid more attention to its low ratings on Amazon!  Smiley Very Happy

You would think so but no I guess not. Fitbit sent me a new Inspire but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I really want it to work!

I bought mine and my husbands inspire on the same day, neither of them have ever tracked our sleep from brand new. I just manually track it everyday.
