My experience with my Inspire HR

Hey, just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem where there fitbit just mysteriously dies after a little over a year (or after the warranty expires). My inspire HR just inexplicably died the other day and this is the second fitbit I’ve had to have done this. I’m apprehensive to get a new one because I don’t want to have to shell out another $100 if it’s just going to happen again. I do really like the fitbits, but if there’s a trend of this happening, it’s not really a company I’m interested in supporting anymore.

Hi Maria,

I don’t really know what happened to mine. It started getting glitchy for a couple of weeks, like the touch screen would respond and stuff like that. Then a few weeks ago it just completely died. I had just charged it so I knew that wasn’t the problem. I did try to charge it just in case, but it basically turned off and never came back on.

Hi @Igby928,

That's not true.  My Alta HR from 2016 is still ticking just as well as it did on Day 1.  I've also had the entire Versa line, the entire Inspire line, the Ionic, the Charge 3 and 4, the Luxe, and the Sense all from their respective release dates and they still run perfectly.

Hi there, @Igby928 @Charles8964. Welcome to the Community Forums. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration. @DramaQueenDiva Thanks for sharing your experience!

Our products are indeed designed and made to last (this goes for each product component) however, there is not an infallible way to ensure that no issues will be present in the long run. Because of this, our Warranty Policy is set into providing as much coverage as we can.

To better assist you both, can you please provide me with more details of the issue you're having with your Inspire HR trackers?

I'm looking forward to getting you back on track!

This has been true of every Fitbit I've ever had until this current Inspire HR (2 years old)...until today.

Amended: After I posted, I happened to see the receipt from my last Fitbit and it was from July 2020, so this Inspire HR has only lasted 1 year and 2 months.

My Inspire HR also inexplicably died around the year and a half mark. After an online help chat over 1 month ago I was offered by email  the option to buy an upgraded model at 50% discount or a like for like replacement. I chose replacement option and submitted my details. I received a follow up email stating there was a discrepancy in the information I provided.. I can no longer email back as I get a message directing me to online live chat of which I have had over 1/2 dozen all of which finish by saying they can see my ticket and it is being dealt with. Await an email. The situation has been ongoing since 8th August and frankly I am disgusted by my treatment and the fact I cannot phone or email direct. This is my second device and although I loved them and feel lost without it I will not be repurchasing and would definitely NOT recommend. So in short - I like you am not interested in a company that does not provide support.

I too bought mine late July 2020 and less than a week ago on September 19 the HR function stopped working. I did troubleshooting to no avail and reached out to customer service and they tried to help with no luck and sent me to warranty. Of course I’m just out of the warranty period and was offed a 35% off full price devices. I figured I could still use it without the HR, well today it completely died.

I’ve had various Fitbits since 2015 and none have ever lasted 2 years. More like 1-1 1/2, conveniently  outside of the 1 year warranty period.

I would never recommend this product to anyone. Fitbit should either make a more lasting product, extend their warranty period or be up front about their product shelf life. Then at least you know what you are in for and what to expect. It’s very disappointing for a company to take advantage of the consumer in this way.

Because I am in the EU as I understand the warranty is for 2 years but frankly I have given up on this company and the product and yesterday bought a Garmin VivoSmart 4. It will be interesting to compare but a big + is if I do have a problem I can return instore. Fitbit.com need to up their game in customer service and product longevity, a Smart watch that expires so quickly is just not fit for purpose!

Exactly what happened to me too!, bought mine in July 2020, in August this year the sleep track and HR functions started glitching.

The HR function just fully stop a week ago (1yr and 2mo). Did all the trouble shooting and nothing works. They offered me the 35% on a newer model which I didn't pick to begin with because this is the one I like and is comfortable to me. I loved my band so much, but Im very afraid that if I purchase a new one this will happen again next year, which judging by this thread is very likely.

So disappointed, I don't want to switch for a different product but why spend another +$100 for another band to die a year form now...

I'm not sure how long I"ve had this one (I had a Charge HR first) but none of them seems to last. My current Inspire HR periodically doesn't track my exercise and the other day it didn't track anything--step, sleep, calories, exercise, etc. I'm buying an Inspire 2 today because they are on sale at Amazon, WalMart and Kohl's for less than $60. I guess I'll see what happens.

Uninstall fitbit app on phone

Then reinstall it

The same thing happened to me. I bought mine in February 2020 and a year later it started glitching. A few days ago the screen stopped scrolling, which is annoying because I have to go to the app on my phone to check everything now. I tried all the trouble shooting as well and it still won't work.

Also disappointed because I think the device should last for longer than 2 years, like iPhones do.

I suspect it's deliberate to force us to buy a new product.
