New Inspire HR keeps vibrating constantly during walking exercise mode, I have cues turned off

Hi,

I got this device yesterday and set it up. I so far have used it to track spinning, and walking, both of which I manually selected. I had no issues with spinning (other than it adding on over 1000 extra steps, which is an issue itself and any ideas on that are welcome.) I did have issues with walking. I have cues turned off but it kept vibrating. if it was only a few times it would be no issue but it would vibrate nearly constantly which really threw me off. I'm talking buzz buzz [one second pause] buzz buzz [5 second pause] buzz buzz [4 second pause]. It was way too much buzzing for me. It didn't seem to have a reason for buzzing either. I restarted the fitbit, and there again "buzz buzz" while walking. This is only during the walking mode, though I haven't tried anything other than that and spinning so far.

Any ideas?

Hello, I am having the same issue as well. Super annoying. Can't turn off in settings in the app, website, or on the fitbit itself (why are there different setting options in three places anyway)? There seem to be multiple posts about this in the forum and no solution. Seems like it should be an easy fix. Makes exercise app useless.

I fixed the issue:

I noticed when I'd set an exercise for walk and walk in the house, or go without my phone, nothing would vibrate. So I thought my phone and fitbit must be trying to connect, and as it only happened during walking it couldn't be a sync issue, but a gps issue. Because there is no on board gps, it tries to connect to your phone. When it struggles to connect it vibrates. I have my settings on my app set to connect all day, but even that wasn't good enough. Then I realized I have battery saver on my phone. I'm on a Samsung S7.

Here are 3 fixes that worked for me:

  • Before exercise turn off battery saver. This stopped it cold turkey, I just turn it back on after my workout.
  • Turn off GPS on your fitbit, via the app or the fitbit itself. I know, defeats the purpose, but it fixed it.
  • In your settings on your phone (Not sure how it works for iphone, but this works for android for sure) go to your apps and find fitbt. Under "manage battery usage" click on "optimize battery usage" where it says "apps not optimized" click and select all apps. Find fitbit, and turn battery optimization off.

All of those options worked and fixed it. I wish there was a more permanent fix on fitbits end, especially since there are so many posts on this.
