I cannot see the Gear Icon on my 1 day old Fitbit Inspire. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+

Assuming you are talking about on the Fitbit itself, rather on phone app, from main clock face, scroll up (swipe down) the whole way.  The last screen should be a gear icon labelled 'Settings'.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
