Had same problem; no display. Tried all solutions to no avail. So I tried several alternatives! Here is what worked for me! Attached inspire 2 into charger, connected charger to USB wall port! Held down left and right buttons until smiley face appeared ( in my case it was longer than 15 seconds), kept holding buttons, smiley face went OFF, kept holding buttons until smiley face came back on, then released buttons. Left the unit plugged in! APPROXIMATELY 40 minutes later the the display was once again operational
