Not able to receive call notification and text message notification

I did all these things which mentioned by you. Still I facing same issue.

I have a Samsung a12 . I tried everything to get notifications to work . Finally figured it out 

My phone has 2 different "messages" apps. Both icons look very similar and at some point I set one of them to be the default app. 

I found the second "messages" app and opened it and now I get notifications !
