Step Counter has counted over 2000 steps from sitting at my desk. I chatted with tech support for about 30 minutes with no resolution to problem. Tech support said that the product is possibly recording steps from typing(not joking). According to the device i have burned over 1500 calories and covered 1.35 miles without breaking a sweat and all while sitting at my desk typing. Makes me wonder if the sleep tracker and heart rate monitor are also inaccurate. I will exchange for a new device. If problem continues, i will return it. After speaking to tech support, i am not confident this issue will get fixed.

Iphone has the driving mode option. When I enter the car, it connects automatically to car Bluetooth and stop all messages. Since Inspire is connected to Iphone Fitbit App why can’t you disable also step counting using same feature as Iphone can recognize automatically driving mode ? It is a stupid software implementation bui I don’t know why you cannot fix it. As alternative you may allow Fitbit to connect directly to car Bluetooth and disable step counting as it will recognize driving mode automatically from car Bluetooth connection.

My FitBit Zip was more accurate than this Inspire! Just doing housework this morning and it says I've logged over 2,000 steps in my teeny apartment? I think not. Why did they discontinue the simple Zip? Yeah I changed the batteries every other month or so, but I didn't have to charge it every day and the step count seemed accurate.

Exactly!! Loved my Zip! Wore it for YEARS and always accurate. I "upgraded" to a new Inspire HR and the steps it records is ridiculous!! Drinking coffee while sitting down and it records steps! So frustrated!!!!

Mine even said I did a workout for 40 minutes yesterday, when all I was doing is changing the bed and getting stuff ready to go do laundry!

Hi I just got the inspire hr over the weekend and I know it’s way over counting my steps s. What should I do if I do all the above suggestions and it still doesn’t work? It’s frustrating because I know I haven’t done as many steps as it says

Hi @MahkG. @cappieem @RusticMommy @RedHedd @Rlp27 and @Sharonti nice to see you here. It's always great to see new faces around.
Sorry for the issues that you're having with your Fitbit Inspire accuracy. Please make sure to check this recommendations and restart instructions. Our team is working on this. You feedback is really important for us, at this moment we don't have more information about it. As mentioned before, we'll have to wait for the next update. You can try the steps suggested here too: How accurate are Fitbit devices?
Please note, that on bumpy roads or in a car with a stiff transmission, your device may add some steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added when driving isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats.
If you want to remove the steps from your daily total, manually log the driving activity for the time you were in a vehicle. For more information see How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?
Thanks for your patience! Feel free to let me know if you have additional questions.

Yeh I got bought an Inspire for my birthday after my Charge HR basically fell to bits (you know, the usual Fitbit Charge HR issue where the skin fell off - happened more than once). I'd noticed the overcounting but decided to judge it after my weekly Monday night football, for which I have a very reliable backlog of info in terms of steps, heart rate and calories from a couple of years of Charge HR readings.
Outcome was approximately 1500 more steps across 80 minutes, 150+ extra calories burned Vs normal and I know I was pretty lethargic as I'm carrying an ankle injury.
I get that FitBit are aware of this but products shouldn't be going to sale without being properly tested, nor should firmware updates. My new tracker completely lacks credibility with me now, I've no real way of knowing my daily totals, so what's the point even bothering with it?

I am having a similar issue. I was granted 35 steps while standing still and getting dressed. I literally put on my clothes and got extra steps. I know this because I was trying to get my 250 in before the top of the hour and was watching the number. It seems that the count will be wildly off if zipping my pants gives me steps. Any ideas how to correct this? I received my Inspire HR on Saturday and have worn it for two days. I did the update prior to wearing it. Thanks!

I’m frustratingly having the same issue of over counting, I did 300 steps in a seated conversation with a marketing agency. I’m really disappointed because I upgraded from my old Fitbit to get additional features but frankly the 30% inaccuracy makes my upgrade seem like a downgrade. It’s accurate when I’m exercising but wildly out when driving, sleeping and talking. Please get a fix sorted - I feel very let-down by a brand I trusted.

It certainly seems you need to do something, there is s groundswell of negative experience which will be ultimately damaging to your brand reputation. My flex was very accurate and I wanted to invest in a better model to have improved functionality, ultimately it looks like poor use of £80, if it doesn’t improve I will return it as “not fit for purpose” and resurrect my old flex. The ball is in your court Fitbit - get it fixed.

Mine over counts by about a factor of two compared to my PACER app that is reasonably accurate. I'm not expecting this device to be exact but when the actual 3000 paces is reported by FITBIT is 6000 to 7000 there is something wrong with the accelerometer software. Please fix it or I will return it for a refund . I have tried the reset and changing arms to no avail. It is a problem in the device or software.

I’m new to the world of Fitbit. My Inspire HR arrived yesterday and other than the step count and calories burned feeling wildly inaccurate, I like it.
I wear it on my dominant arm with the appropriate setting in the app. Stride measured and height/weight/age data all input before my spinning/running session at the gym this morning.
I was more more than surprised that I’d burned over 350 calories more than my wife, whose Apple Watch we know to be pretty accurate after comparing it to other devices. My step count for the day is also 40% greater than hers, and we have been in each others company all day.
At this rate I will be posting my new toy back to Amazon next week. Please Fitbit, you seem to have a great app and a nice physical product design, but if the data coming from it is this questionable then you’ll have a lot of unhappy - and non-repeating - customers.

Mine also arrived yesterday and I do really love it so I'm so disappointed to say I'm going to have to send it back. I do find it is quite accurate for when your actually out walking but it's the things in between that you do.
It counted almost 200 steps for me walking down the stairs this morning and we don't have a huge house! 20 for putting my little boy in his pushchair .. it adds about 20 on everytime I wash my hands!
I spoke to tech today did the whole 100 step test thing and re started it but they said they know the issue and are working on it but I don't know whether to just send it back while I still have the chance to.

@YojanaFitbit do they have any idea at all how long the fix will be? I ordered mine from Amazon so I'm limited on time to send it back so I have a decision to make as to whether I should wait it out in the Hope's there will be a fix or just send it back,
Thanks

As a longtime Fitbit wearer, I'm hoping for a fix for this too or else I am returning. I have steps before I get out of bed, steps when I drive, steps when I sit at my kitchen table and the list goes on. I don't mind a few extra movement steps but some sense of accuracy is necessary or else I don't trust anything this Fitbit says. I wear it on my non dominant wrist and it is set to non dominant wrist. I can't wear it on my other wrist. I am going to make my decision on returning soon and I am desperately seeking a solution @Fitbit, please don't let me down.

I’ve had mine now for 24 hours and wish I had come across this thread before I purchased. 10000+ steps by 10am, logging everything from shaving to emptying the dishwasher as a step. 20 minute drive added a further 2000. Sitting watching TV 200+ in less than 1 hour. Such a shame as the product feels well made and the app is good. Tried all of the fixes as described in these threads without any change. ‘Fitbit’I hope the update is close, but will most probably return while I have the chance. ☹️
