I’m having the same problem. I bought my Inspire 2 on the basis of a good review back in April and have had almost 4 months of constant frustrations. I have overcome the dim screen I think and finally via the forums have figured out why is suddenly stopped monitoring my heart rate but I have the same problem as you.
I wear glasses but not when I run and I can just about get my Fitbit set up before I leave my house so that it’s paused and I just have to tap after I have done my warm up walk HOWEVER when I have finished my run, I haven’t yet after running 3 times a week for 3 months managed to get it to end and finish. I loose it every time. The screen is difficult to see and my hands are hot and sweaty, is that the problem?
I like you am reaching for the rolling pin, it should surely be easier than this. I had a Fitbit charge and never had a problem. Not impressed with the amount of time I’ve spent on forums searching for answers to overcome basic problems. Very frustrating.

ive noticed that after your done working out, you are sweaty, and if there is too much moisture on the sides of the inspire and/or your fingers, it wont register the side buttons when you squeeze it.
what i have found that works is to pinch the sides of the inspire at the top, and wipe the sides down with your fingers a couple times, then do the side squeeze and they usually work,
