I spent $100 on the Fitbit HR for sleep tracking. Did not realize that to see my heart rate, I have to subscribe to the monthly service. Fitbit competitors offer this functionality at the cost of the device, such as Ring.

You only need to pay for the monthly service to see detailed information on your "sleeping heart rate" and "restlessness" (as part of a "Premium" Sleep Score). The monthly service gives you more detailed sleep statistics, but your HR can be seen in the Fitbit app with a graph for each day (and with info on what your "resting heart rate" is). On your Fitbit app dashboard, click the "heart" icon to see your HR graph history and your "resting heart rate" history.

No need to sup scribe to premium @kgrauer
Open the Fitbit app, tap the sleep tile, tap a sleep in question. Under the chart, their may be a reason for not seeing sleep stages.
