Deleted my account and reinstalled in the hope it would help but nope. The calories are high even though I’ve not moved. I took it out of the box and charged it and it said 854. I walked to another room and it jumped up to 1356? And the same happened when I set up another account

Can anyone help me before i try and send it back

thanks

A warm welcome to the Community @Kirsti86! Your Fitbit will show you calories burned even when you haven't worn it because those are based on your BMR. Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity. Your BMR usually accounts for at least half of the calories you burn in a day and is estimated based on the physical data you entered when you set up your account: sex, age, height, and weight.

When you set it up, it had all your personal information on it and this can be why it showed more calories than when you took it out from the box.

Regarding the steps that you're seeing, I would like you to check this article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?. There you will find more information on how Fitbit tracks steps.

Hello and welcome to the forums @Kirsti86

You can read more about burned calories here - click to view

Your device knows you're breathing and moving about, so it shows burned calories. Setting up a new account won't change that. Have you tried setting it up and stepping? Is that working for you? Let us know.

When I removed the watch from

the box it said I’d burned over 1,000 calories. I hadn’t moved and it jumped to 1,340 calories
