Sleep tracking on the Inspire 2

I am using an Inspire 2 and am a Premium Fitbit member. In the past, I would start tracking my sleep in the actual app and would stop tracking when I woke up in the morning. I wasn’t getting any data, so I started reviewing in different communities to see what I was doing wrong. I learned that I’m not supposed to be starting sleep in the app, the app just will start tracking naturally. I also learned that the device itself needs to be set to wrist versus clip mode. I wear the device as a clip daily, either in a pocket or attached to my bra. I have never worn it as a watch. 10 days ago, I started changing the device before I went to bed to wrist mode, and changed it back to clip mode when I woke up. I also stopped starting sleep in the app so it would track naturally. After 10 days, I still do not have any sleep data. I have chatted with two different representatives today, neither have been any help at all. My case number is case # 7-3220000039640. One told me I needed to change my settings in the actual app, but the settings she wants me to change or not there. I updated the app and they are still not visualized.  In my Device Preferences setting, my only options are wrist preference, dominant or non-dominant, or exercise shortcuts. Can someone please help me with this?  Thank you.

Hi @katecar5   I read your post several times, so I hope I didn’t miss something obvious.  Are you wearing your Inspire 2 on your wrist for sleep?  The heart rate monitor needs to be in contact with your skin.

Sorry, duplicative response, but unable to delete so I just erased it.

Sorry, I should’ve been more clear. Yes, I wear the device in a wristband at night.

@katecar5   Are you putting it on your wrist right as you go to bed?  Wild guessing here.  One of the "sleep signals" for a Fitbit is that your wrist doesn't move for an hour.  If you are putting it on right before bedtime, then you might not have any enough movement data to trigger that you stopped moving.  Also, you probably don't have the heart rate tile turned on in your Fitbit app.  Can you turn it on and see if your heart rate monitor is working?  Some of the Health Metrics data, like breathing rate, are only measured during sleep.  Do you get a breathing rate?

@LZeeW, most nights, I actually put it on my wrist an hour or longer before I actually go to sleep, because I’ll read in bed for a while or be online, etc. Occasionally, I may put it on and go right to sleep.  And the heart rate tile is showing up on the app, but only for the timeframe that I have the device set as wrist versus clip mode.

@katecar5   All of your settings are correct.  There are no app settings to change.  Fitbit's sleep algorithm is proprietary and Fitbit doesn't share secrets.  My only thought is that you don't have enough activity data to detect sleep.  Support probably can't tell you how much activity you need.  If they have the answer, then anyone should be able to find it.

Appreciate your help, any idea how to get Support involved?  I already chatted with 2 people online but neither helped.

Can anyone from support help answer this question please?  Maybe @JuanFitbit ?  I’ve seen your responses to similar questions.
