Stats not resetting at midnight

My steps on my fitbit device don't zero out at the end of the day. They only zero out on my fitbit app dashboard. So on my device I have over 84,000 steps which keeps going up and up as I walk, but my fitbit app shows my daily steps. How can I fix my device to zero out at the end of the day?

Hi @dmdavies1, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared in your post, seems odd that your step count isn't restarting at midnight. To resolve this, please try our restart process following the next steps and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Looking forward to your reply.

I have the Inspire and this process didn’t work.  Got it/wore it for the first time yesterday afternoon and when I got up this morning nothing had reset.  Tried attaching to charger and held button for 5 seconds then released button; it just showed me the charge level.  No smiley face.  Data not reset either.  Help?

I had to do it several times. I kept the button pressed even longer than I thought seemed necessary. The smiley face eventually appeared and as soon as it appeared everything was set. Not sure how many times you tried but if it continues not to work then I would call Fitbit directly. Good luck!

Not so much. Still not resetting. Talked to Fitbit and reinstalled so
we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Mine also doesn't reset, but it happens sporadically. I can't imagine doing a restart if this happens consistently. As this issue was posted last year, is there a better fix for this issue?

@Mjab87 Welcome to the Community.

I have noticed that this may happen when there is a  change in timezone (due to travel or Daylight Savings Time changes).  You can restart your device as mentioned before, this will help it reset the following midnight but it won’t remove the steps from the affected date. I would also monitor when this happens since you mentioned it is rather sporadically.

I'll be around.

No change in time zone for me, but it has happened 3 times in the last month. Very frustrating.
