Step Counts for Tracked Walk Activities Significantly Lower Than Actual Since Last App Update

I have a 10month old Inspire HR that I wear on my non-dominant wrist. The settings in the App on my Android phone and in the Fitbit.com Dashboard have been set accordingly.

Over the past week the step counts recorded by my Fitbit on tracked walk activities have been 70 to 85% of what they should be based on step counts recorded on past walks of the exact same route, step counts based on my calculated walk stride length along a route where I have previously determined the distance using GIS tools, and/or step counts I've made while walking the route. Step counts for walk activities have been consistently underestimated by the Fitbit since I bought it. But they have typically been within 5% of what they should be, which I considered to be acceptable.

The Fitbit seems to stop counting steps randomly through the recent activities. My arms have moved freely during the entire activity. In the past, step count for intervals during long walks would be uniform over the entire duration of the walk (top image below). But on all walks within the the last week step count varies significantly for intervals through the walk (bottom image below). The intensity of my walk has not changed at any point during the recent walks, so there is no reason why step counts should not be approximately the same for each interval.

The fact that the Fitbit App was updated the day prior to when this issue first presented could be a coincidence. The only reason I can come up with for the change is that the dominant vs non-dominant hand setting is no longer being respected.

Over the past week I've followed all of the instructions posted by moderators every time somebody posts an issue. I've done this multiple times. This included restarting the Fitbit, rebooting the Fitbit, uninstalling and reinstalling the App on the phone, and rebooting the phone. None of those actions resolved the issue. At this point I'm just looking for input from others as to whether or not they are also seeing step counts recently being underestimated for tracked activities. If no one else is having this issue, I'm going to have to accept that my Inspire HR has reached the end of its useful life and move on to another tracker.

How are they compared to the actual steps that you count while on a walk?

I count every left step for 100, 200, or 500. This gives me a true step count of 200, 400, and 1000.
