Hi, @Samsondog , your Inspire 2 is a pedometer at heart (although a pretty sophisticated one). It has a 3 axis accelerometer meaning it detects steps when forward motion is detected but also in combination with swinging hand movements consistent with with walking.
While it works for most activities, stationary ones can be difficult to detect - especially motion on a recumbent stationery bike (because there are neither hand motions - of the sort you make when swinging your arms naturally while walking - nor is there even any forward motion or vibrations from your feet travelling to your arms. If you add to that a reclining position, it seems likely that your Fitbit is struggling.
In this situation many people decide to wear their Fitbit on their ankle (if the strap is long enough) or else simply tuck it into their sock. The over all step count may not be exactly accurate, but your effort should be recorded.
Alternatively you could manually log your activity. (But note that manually logged activities will not count towards any challenges or your weekly step leaderboard.)
Instructions on how to manually log an activity are here
I hope this helps. Welcome to the forums!
