Sudden rise in sleeping heart rate

I have had my Fitbit for a little over a month.  Until 5 nights ago, my sleeping heartrate was consistently in the 90% ranges, below resting.  Sunday night it was only 67% below resting and I didn't really notice it.  The past 4 nights it has been in the 3-8% below resting!  I have done nothing different in my daily routine and this seems bizarre. Could it be a malfunction?

Hi, @GKayM , this could be caused by all sorts of factors which may not have anything to do with your daytime routine - much more likely your sleep routine.  It probably means that you weren’t sleeping as deeply - could it be a change in weather, Or in the comfort of your room (too hot or too cold)?  It could also be from drinking alcohol close to bed time or having a heavier than normal meal.  It could also be that you are coming down with something (I hope not!).  Some women have even found that the changes in their Fitbit HR calculations are the first indication of pregnancy...

I would not worry about this too much, but do continue to monitor it over the coming days.

Thank you for your response.  Since posting this nothing has changed; it has continued the same way.  No alcohol involved, no pregnancy possible (hysterectomy a few years ago), and I don't feel ill.  I did have a recent medication change and now I am wondering if that could have caused it.  My Deep and REM sleep remain the same.  It just shows elevated HR at night now. I do appreciate your suggestions.
