Unable to add friends

We are currently in a steps challenge at my work and we all have fit bits. I am trying to add my team as friends so I can then add them to a closed group but I keep getting an error 404 message when I am trying to add them by username. I have read through plenty of forums to find a resolution but no luck. This is very frustrating. Please help

Hello @AmandaLBH 

Open your Fitbit App and tap the Community tab at the bottom of your screen. Now tap the icon at the top right of your screen that is the image of a plus sign. Since you are trying to find coworkers you most likely already know their username on their account so just tap username and type in your coworkers username then tap then plus sign next to your coworkers username you just typed in to send out your friends request to them. Once your coworkers accept your request you can then easily add them to your Work Step Challenge.

Hello,

There is no Plus option on the top right of my screen when I click the
community tab.

Also when I do go to add friends using their username I get an error code
404 - failed to send request.

Are you using the most updated Fitbit App Version? If you are try logging out of your Fitbit App and logging back in to see if that helps. It should look like this: (make sure you have “Feed” highlighted like mine….if it’s not highlighted then just tap the word feed)

I’ve been trying to think of a workaround you can use to easily add friends to your friends list on the Fitbit App so you can enjoy a step challenge with coworkers. I understand this workaround doesn’t solve your error issue but my workaround will at least get ya going for the time being. 
Here’s how: 

Sign into your account here online

Tap the word Dashboard at the top of your screen

Now tap your profile image on the upper right side (This will open to your profile page)

Now copy the URL from that page and email it to your friends 

Your coworkers receive the email, tap on the URL link you sent them, sign into their own account here online and a Friends Request will appear under your picture. They simply tap that then you will get a friend request from them.

Also, I found this Failed Friends Request Error 404 issue discussed here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/Failed-friend-request-404-error/td-p/4570143 Pay special attention to the moderators inductions. This too may help 😉

😃I understand it’s not the ideal path but waiting around for the error to resolve is unknown. But now (with a workaround) you can have a good time with a stepping challenge your coworkers. I hope this helps.
