No data on phone for 6 days. Message in app says update required, but no way to do this

Hi @Podnil2 what needs updating - your device or the app? I recently had to get a new phone as my Android phone was too old (Android 9) for the recent app. If the Inspire 2 won't update, it's probably because these things are done on a rolling basis - not everyone can update it at the same time. If there is no data, are you still paired?

Both phone and Fitbit are charged. Phone was receiving data until a week
ago until suddenly stopped. I only picked this up today. I changed phones a
couple of months ago but no problems till now. Phone has synced somewhat
today but after a time I get a message saying couldn't sync. I've forced a
stop, rebooted device, turned Bluetooth off and on. At a loss as to what to
try next.

@Podnil2what phone do you have - iOS or Android? A friend of mine with a Zip and Android is having trouble syncing, but isn't getting an update notice.

@Podnil2  how strange. My friend has a Motorola Play E, with Android 10 operating system. I've asked a Fitbit Moderator to stop by when they have time to help.

Thanks for your help. The odd thing is that it will sync a bit, so today
it's synced 36 steps. But no more!

@Odyssey13 Thank you for your help.

@Podnil2 A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for sharing your information and for your efforts.

Do you have any other Fitbit paired to your account?
Is MobileTrack on ?

If you have another Fitbit paired with your account, or MobileTrack on, this could explain your situation.
Let me explain this, if you have another Fitbit paired, but you left it at home, what might happened, is that the Fitbit App synced with it and as this didn't have any data on it, it will sync 0 or a low amount of steps, overwriting the ones recorded by your Inspire 2.

In that case, go to the devices icon  (upper left corner) and remove the other Fitbit.

MobileTrack uses the phone's sensors to count steps. This is for when you have left your Fitbit at home (e.g. while charging). Please make sure MobileTrack is not activated.
It may happen that the steps recorded with the cell phone overwrite those of the Inspire 2 .

In the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon (top left corner).
There you will see the devices linked to your account.
If you see the Mobile Device Active option, tap it and remove it from the account.

Regarding the update mentioned, I assume that you got a banner on the app, saying that the update is ready (or similar)
In that case, we'll need for the Inspire 2 to sync .
Adding to the info above I suggest you have a look at this:
Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
