My HR model tracked a 40 min walk for a 15 min elliptical session. This is the second time I’ve had this happen in the 2 weeks I’ve had my device. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, walking doesn’t show as an exercise on my device, is there a way to add it?

@MegCCC Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well!
Let me help you with your exercise detection. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. If your heart rate is high but there isn't much motion (yoga, weight lifting, etc.) then these activities will be difficult to be detected by your device. In this case your arm movement may have replicated the movement of an elliptical machine (maybe you were holding on to something?) Still you can manually log your activity so you have a record on your account or use the activity mode on the device itself.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply. I would’ve been holding onto my dogs leash so I guess that may have been it.
The mode walk isn’t listed on my device options, can I add it? I submitted a second help request relating to this. My activity mode options in my device don’t offer a walk option and the weight lifting option is also gone. But I have the Pilates option listed 3 times.

So, is there a way to change the already mislogged walk from Elliptical to a Walk? I just got done with an over-hour-long walk and it only registered a 17min Elliptical workout.
Not cool! I want this thing to be accurate and thinking I'm only exercising for 17 minutes, when I jsut got done killing myself for over an hour is a MASSIVE mistake on your devices part!

Mine has done exactly the same since Tuesday of this week and I am doing the same walk every day. Really annoying as I only want to track my walking

@Jinty10 Thanks for stopping by!
Let me help you with this. Besides the suggestions in my previous post you can also remove the Elliptical detection from the SmartTrack feature (check the link in my previous post). Still the best thing you can do is use the exercise option if you have an Inspire HR.
I'll be around.
