So what exactly does the Inspire HR do to detect active minutes? If I take a 5 minute walk and put it on exercise for the walk it will randomly count it or not count it or count a portion of it?????
I thought it had to do with heart rate but I can be in the cardio zone for 3 minutes and it doesn't add any. Yet a couple of times today I had it count that as active minutes.... what's it doing?

It only gives active minutes when it thinks you are being very active and not just moderately active. Working out which one you are in seems to be as much of an art than a science. Although heart rate is used, it is only a part. Have a look at Fitbit's comments on the subject at Help article: What are active minutes?
