Trying to decide what category to choose for manual ‘stop start’ workouts. I do resistance work (push ups, jogging on spot, abs, etc, in a round robin) I just choose ‘workout’? Does this matter a great deal?
thanks

@jameslondon74 , that’s what I would use. I don’t think it makes a big difference.
Once it is synced to your app you can rename it if you want to “gym session” or “training” or anything you like really, but if it is not an exercise category in the Fitbit database you will need to create it first in the web based program by going to log -> activities and then scrolling down to the bottom right where you can create a “custom activity”.
Once created in the web based programme a custom activity will be available for you to use in the app.
Or you can just keep it as “workout”. Up to you! It will not change your available stats.
i hope this helps.

Right so it doesn't actually effect anything? So why all the different categories?

Hi, @jameslondon74 , depending on the category you choose you will get slightly different stats; for example if you choose walk, run or hike, you will get distance and pace. You will not get this information if you choose “workout”.
The other reason is simply that many people like to see an accurate record of what they actually did. You get pretty much the same stats if you choose bike ride or run, but many people don’t want to see bike ride on their record when they did a run!
But to some extent the reason for choosing “workout” is simply so you can either leave it as workout or given it a more specific name to distinguish it (for popular example, “tabata workout”). Some people just like to keep their records very specific and Fitbit offers them that option.

Got it. Do you know what stats you get with 'workout'? I guess I can try and find out!

The workout option will give you length of workout, a heart rate graph with zones and max, and calories burned, These are the basic stats you will get with each category. For certain other categories you will also get distance and pace, as maentioned above.
