Will the Inspire 2 display be visible in the sunlight?

I have an Alta HR and I cannot see it outside in the sun. Is the Inspire 2 able to be read outside in the sunlight?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Inspire 2's screen. I appreciate the troubleshooting performed prior to posting, I see where your frustration is coming from.

The Inspire 2 screen brightness can be adjusted to be dim, if you feel like it's too bright. To do so, press and hold both buttons and access Quick Settings then search for Dim Screen.

If the display is unreadable outside, check that Dim Screen and Sleep Mode are turned off in the Settings app to ensure the brightness is set to normal. Learn more about it in this article How do I get started with Fitbit Inspire 2?

Hope this helps.

It doesn’t help. I already did that. Still can’t read the screen outdoors.

There are different watch faces, I saw that one of them is all ways on, I think it is the Performance face.

I just got mine, and I can't read it outside even the shade. I have the dimmer off, sleep mode off, DND off, etc. It's disappointing, I'll probably return it.  If you can't see it outside they may as well not included a screen.

Chiming in here to say, for me, the Inspire 2 is only marginally visible in sunlight (and only if you remove/lower your sunglasses). It's effectively unviewable if you can only steal a quick glance (e.g., if you're riding a bike and can't take your eyes off the road long enough to really focus on it). Yes, my dim and sleep mode are off. It's just doesn't have enough brightness at full intensity to compete with the sun.

I have the same issue....screen so dim outside I can not see/read it. I have made the adjustment - DIM screen off. I am near the point of getting rid of my Inspire 2 because I can not read the screen outside! Terrible. Anyone looking to buy the Inspire 2 should realize that the screen is only readable inside.

Absolutly NOT! Can not see/read the screen outside. Very frustrating that Fitbit does not resolve this

Fitbit moderator -  You are missing the main issue here and I don't think you understand where the frustration is coming from. So I will try to make it clear. With Inspire 2 - and the DIM screen off - you can not read/see the screen outside! What you are saying in your post is the standard response from Fitbit. Why won't Fitbit acknowledge that the Inspire2 screen outside has a problem?

Yes, as may people have mentioned Dim Screen is turned OFF yet I'm sure
you're aware it's still nearly impossible to see the screen in daylight.
Would love to know what the improvements are?

It's a $100 item that's basically un-viewable in normal daylight, so it
would be good to hear if there is a solution.

Thanks!

absolutely not. I use it every day and if the sun is out, I can not read
the face of Inspire 2

Sorry but you’re missing the point!

It is impossible to view anything at all on the Inspire 2 when outside. As many have said, the fixes you suggest have been tried, by many, and they don’t work.

Please can you answer a direct question - why are you selling a Fitbit that is not fit for purpose? (I'm assuming here that you don’t expect users to sit on a sofa in a darkened room in order to track and monitor anything).

I will be returning mine for a refund - any issues with that and I'll be reporting to trading standards - and maybe the national press. Utterly disgraceful!

Agreed.  Even after ensuring Dim and Sleep are both OFF, it's impossible to see the screen when I'm out on a jog unless I stop in my tracks and shield the screen from the sun with my other hand.    Very dissapointing.

I bought a Garmin VivoSmart4 as a replacement after the band broke on mine.  Less expensive and easily visible outdoors.  I did not want to spend the $$ for a replacement band when I was so unhappy with my device.  Even shielding the display outside did not work for me.  Cons for the Garmin:  does not have a replaceable band and I liked the Fitbit app better but hey - I can read it when I am outside walking.

Same boat, @mikkyD, except I went the Apple Watch SE route. I regret that I couldn’t stick with Fitbit, because there was a lot I liked about it. It was my first serious fitness tracker and a great way to test the water without investing a lot, so I’ll give it that.

I called customer service about this issue, and after leading me to the Dim option, that's all that could be done.  There is NO way to make it brighter.  Seems like a major flaw to me.

I'll add my experience that you can't see the screen in even a little bit of sunshine. Even with dim screen and sleep mode off, the unit has to basically be in the shade to see it. Not very useful.

DIM is off. Sleep is off. DND is off. Still cannot see the display in the sun. AND the display only stays on for 3 seconds. WTH   Tomorrow, this so called watch will be returned to Best Buy. I have missed texts, been late to meet clients and gotten caught in a lightning storm on the water (no alerts!).

Best Answer

Not at all. I bought mine in December and I won't buy another one. Defeats the purpose of the fitbit. Can't even see the clock outside...waste of money.
