Woke up and had almost 5000 steps already

My FitBit was sitting on my bathroom counter all night and still showed over 4000 steps when I woke up! How do I reset to zero? The video I watched didn't work (it said to hold side button for 8 seconds, then another 8 seconds until the smiley face came on, then it would be reset, but it wasn't.)

Hi, @Jan3boys , the procedure you described does restart your Fitbit but it will not remove any steps.  

Is it possible that your Fitbit was next to a vibration source in your bathroom - a fan is a usual culprit.  This will often cause the Fitbit to calculate false steps.

If you do not wear it over night be sure to keep it on a stable surface and away from vibrations to avoid this happening again.
