Woke up and tapped face to switch display. Moved up one item and stopped at steps.

Display only has time and steps,

wont budge to anything else. Pressing the side button, you can feel vibration but nothing happens. Tried charging; made no difference in operation. Purchased new 30 days ago

@DMaries Try putting it on the charger and holding in the side button for 5 seconds.  That should restart it.
