I use an Inspire HR. I usually go to sleep between 10:30pm and 11:30pm but frequently wake for up to an hour around 3am. As a result, the reported sleep totals are usually inaccurate: sleep before midnight is not recorded, sleep before waking at 3am is frequently not recorded. The Fitbit 24hr period is 0:00 to 24:00. Why not provide the option of using a 12:00 to 12:00 24-hr period? This might capture the full amount of sleep better since most people, I'm sure, go to sleep before midnight. Failing that, how do I ensure that sleep before midnight is recorded? Currently it never is.

@richard_dc Your Inspire HR seems to be misbehaving. I do use an Inspire HR, but the HR based trackers that automatically detect sleep should capture both segments as two separate segments. Sleep is "detected" after an hour of not moving your wrist. A sleep segment needs to be at least three hours long to get sleep stages. So if you sleep for four hours, are awake for an hour, then sleep for two hours, you should get two segments -- one with sleep stages and the other with sleep patterns. The goal here needs to be getting your Inspire HR to track sleep properly.
Have you tried restarting your Inspire HR? Try restarting your tracker 2-3 times. That is the first troubleshooting step for all trackers.
Also, I think you should edit your topic to "Inspire HR not tracking sleep properly" or words to that effect. Your solution is a tracker that works correctly. If my suggestion doesn't help, your issue might get more attention with a more accurate topic.
